Father's old Bucheimer Perfect Fit B8?
Was wondering what models guns this size Bucheimer holster was made for? My father used to carry his old S&W pre-10 nickle plated, pearl handled revolver in it. Seemed to have a slightly loose fit. Looks to be for a 5" barrel. My recently aquired CDC trade-in Model 10-10 fits, but is also a little loose. I actually carried my Model 629-3 5" 44 Mag in it for a while but is definitely too tight.

I think B8 is a model number, not a size number. Sizes are usually
something like 12, 24, 32, etc... Are there any other numbers besides
B8 on the back? If not, perhaps a photo would help us help you.
If the K frame is too loose and the N frame too tight, it could be a
K frame with adjustable rear sights. Do you have one to try? Or
perhaps a Colt OP which would fit about the same.

Perfect Fit holster chart from about 1964:
B = Black
8 = Colt Off. Pol., 5”, S&W Mil. & Pol., 5”

If it is supposed to fit the Colt OP it would be loosey goosey in the M&P.
M&P is now K Frame with fixed rear sight. S&W K frame with adjustable
rear sight, like a Model 19 for instance, will fit a holster designed for a
Colt OP.
P.S. The very early M&Ps offered a target model that did have the
adjustable rear sight, but the ones that you describe have the
fixed rear sight.
