gift from LAWANDORDER
the wife and I met with Tony yesterday for lunch(catfish with all the trimmings). we hadn't seen each other for several years now so we had a lot of catching up to do. he presented me with a beautiful black leather duty holster for a 1911. it was made in Clovis, NM by H. C. "Herb" Wilmeth. he was a WWII veteran who served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, was then a saddler for Bishop's Cowboy Supply after the war. in the 1950s he became a livestock inspector for the state of NM retiring in 1976. Tony had researched him and provided this information along with the holster. what a great guy. if it wasn't too late to get on the ballot he should have run for President. thanks Tony. lee

That Tony is one great guy!
One day, the wife and I will make it up into AR to get to meet him.
Thanks for sharing Lee.

One I had not seen before. My expectation (from its features) is that it was made after 1970 -- do we know for sure when this one was made?

Now that's a nice one, Lee. It'll have quite a forward cant on it when you put it on a belt, won't it.
There are some nice guys on this forum.

not sure when he started making holsters. he retired from the state job in 1976 and passed in 2005. I agree with the features being 70s or possibly 80s. lee

Lee it was great to see you guys and get to visit . Hope you found a treasure or two in the shops around the Ozarks.
When I get retired you guys will have to come over, and we will go run the traps.
By the way Lee ( like I did ) married way above himself. Congratulations Amigo! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I was just thinking about Tony today as I came across a business card he gave me when we met here in Memphis at a gunshop. I only met him that once but could tell he's good people.
Above poster was right, there was a couple of good'us at that table.

Cool holster. Looks like an early Safariland on the front and has the snap on style attachment Shoemaker and Hume used on some Jordan style holsters. Clovis only time I've ever heard that towns name is in a Hank Jr. song.
