welcome to the forum.....
I like XS Big Dots for my bottom feeders and as for gun leather, there are a number of leather crafters on this forum that can help you with a quality holster. You can try E-Bay as well to get started.

No. I have 2 SW9VEs. The FOBUS HK1 holster fits and is both cheap and reliable, and will retain the pistol.
Now, you can get some holsters made like socks that don't really fit anything and won't retain the pistol, but are useful only as pocket liners.

For sights, nothing else fits, and there is darn little available for the SW9VE except meprolite night sights.

The SW is a sturdy service pistol, but don't frustrate yourself trying to mod and "improve" it. That's what the M&P series is suited to.

GALCO makes a nice one. That is what I have for my old warhorse sw40c.
I never had a problem with mine.
Our "armorer" did maintenance for us jut like our patrol car.
Maybe because mine was the exact pistol that GLOCK sued S&W over,,,,and won millions !
Mine still serves me well and functions perfectly.
