Default Modified Heiser w/ Franz-Loc

Found this one on eBay the other day. Someone has shortened this holster a bit and by trial and error I've figured out it fits a 3" Colt D-frame.

Sucks they messed with it but the work is top notch.I would almost go as far to say the bobbing and Franz-loc where done by Heiser.

Alex, whoever did the shortening did a good job but I suspect it was done by owner and not the factory as the stitch count is slightly different if you look carefully. I'm pretty sure the Franz-Loc is original as these weren't uncommon options on these older holsters.

Heiser first advertised a belt clip in the number 40 catalog, my example came with a laid in card advising of a price increase dated 1942. I thought I had a later full page ad showing the Franz-Loc clip but I can't find it at present. That's a good looking holster.
Regards,
turnerriver

I love trying to work these things out :-). A variation in stitch count though, can vary at the factory for a variety of reasons. What stands out to me is that the muzzle was stitched 'upside down' compared with the main seam, which is done on the traditional side.

Turnerriver gave me a new old stock Franz-Loc some time ago. I think it's so special I've yet to figure what gun to make a holster for. But I bought another new one so now I can make a couple holsters with them. These belt clips are very high quality and almost over engineered in their sturdiness and function. Even though they are identicle I'll make my first holster with the one John gave me.

And unlike Heiser, you can use two-piece rivets (that is, you don't have to attach the clip to a panel and then sew it on last like they did).
