Default Thumb break for 1911 IWB leather or not

My normal carry has been a SW J frame .38 spcl. I have one leather OWB that has a thumb break and the rest have none. I also have Kydex IWBs and paddles that don't. I have no experience carrying my 1911 Springfield Range Officer with 5" barrel. What advice regarding a thumb break for a leather IWB. I have ordered a MTR Custom Leather A-1+ Deluxe Thoroughbred Holster. I can still modify my order to include the thumb break.
Thanks John

It's not necessary. Most holsters today are completely open top and no one has had issues with ND.

Retention is rarely a problem for non-LEO or non-military carry.

If you might be involved in some activity that could result in your gun falling out or being knocked out, then thumb break might be good idea.

Unless you're walking in the woods, or otherwise doing a whole lot of creeping/crawling/climbing/lifting, no problem.

Gonna be a bit of an adjustment going from a svelte J-frame to a full-size 1911.

I may just go right back to the J frame.

But, ya never know unless you try!

And hey, it's not like there isn't near-infinite choice in between one and the other.

I can't imagine using a thumb break holster for a 1911.

Thanks to all for the good advice and comments. All of the good replies helped me decide to not get it. I am 74, over the hill and picking up speed so I don't plan on running, certainly not AFTER someone. The .45 is why to not have to run away from someone.
Thanks
John
