Default "Tac" holster for 4" N Frame

I don't know if this is an odd question or not, but I've been Jonesin' for a nylon tactical or thigh holster to be used for carrying a 4" 25-2 .45 Colt out in the boonies. Does such a thing exist, or do I need to "adapt and overcome"?

You may like Crossfire's Alaskan. I have one and carry my
S&W Model 29 4" .44 Mag. in it. It is versatile in that you
can carry it in the traditional way (on your hip) or crossdraw
in a bandolier rig, which is very handy to wear over a coat
when hunting in cooler weather. Lots about it to like. Take
a look. Google: Crossfire Alaskan Holster.

Thanks for the link, but that's not what I'm after. I'm after a holster with a drop strap and leg straps to go around the upper thigh. Don't know, but I just think it would be cool!

Bianchi 84UM-R .........Bianchi's Revolver version of their Universal Military holster.....

you will need to also buy the "drop piece" and belt.

A lot of comments over the years that this is not the most comfortable way to carry ...... military/swat uses them to clear body armor and load bearing vests.

According to the Safariland Group website, that particular holster won't fit anything bigger than an L frame. Have you used this holster for an N frame gun?

Looks pretty complicated. Have you tried setting up a rig like I'm looking for? If so, how does it work?

A thigh rig is not what you want in the boonies. Especially in the brush. Chest rig or shoulder rig is better.
Used to hunt "pig" in Hawaii. Dense. That's how I know.
Good luck.

You are likely to find that the drop leg holster is uncomfortable and that the pistol and holster snag on a lot of stuff. They are designed for folks who carry such much stuff that is in the way of a standard level holster that the drop is needed. I'd go with something like the DD chest holster for woods wear.

Now that I've gotten so many answers in the negative regarding the utility of what I was talking about, and after having done a bunch of research hither and yon on the 'Net, I'm starting to lean more toward something like the Simply Rugged three slot with the chest straps. Looks handy...

Thanks for all of your input, folks...

Hey moonshine, all of us have a box of "looked like a good idea at the time" holsters laying around somewhere. I actually have 3 - one for semi-auto, one for revolver, and one for everything else. Oh, and a fourth box of the ones that actually work for me.
I think we are giving you the benefit of our mistakes. Your wallet will thank you.

Having actually worn a drop leg holster doing SWAT stuff with a 25-5 in the 80's and early 90's....there are some very good holsters in somebody's holster box somewhere. I used Eagle Industries and they worked great. The one I kept as still being practical was an Eagle flap holster that was used as a drop leg, but you could remove all the hardware and use it for a belt holster, which is how my .45 Colt Mountain Gun rides in it to this day. It really protects the gun and is fairly accessible. I ll post a picture when I get home later. Most folks who have worn drop legs for real and who understand a bunch of the dynamics involved of proper draw and deployment of pistols will get away from the real low ride ones. They were only useful with a lot of the older very bulky body armor. Improvements in armor have negated much of the need and the guns can be brought back up with more secure anchoring to the belt.
