Question Has anyone used Lobo enhanced Pancake or avenger with a 4" 629?

Hi,
Has anyone used a Lobo enhanced Pancake or avenger holster with a 4" 629?
If so how well do they work with a large N frame frame 4" barrel?
Thinking about getting one of their #10 belt as well.

They look very well made...
Thanks

I gave myself the Lobo avenger and the #10 belt to fit a N-frame 28-2 4" for a Christmas present. The fit of the holster is superb, although a bit tight for starters. I expect the ease of drawing and re-holstering to loosen a bit with use. It has the thumb break retention that I want for field carry. The belt is stiff and provides good support for this hefty revolver. The quality of both pieces is very high. I like the reasonably high ride and find the standard 15 degree forward cant suitable for my uses. The fit of the belt to holster loops is also tight, but that is much preferable to loose. I expect this rig to last a lifetime.

Be sure to tell them exactly what revolver you intend to use, for instance full underlug or not and they will fit to order.
Communication with the company was great and delivery was within the advertised time frame.

I also have a Lobo enhanced pancake for a K-frame Model 19 snub, which I also like very much.

What is the difference between the enhanced pancake and the avenger as far as the carry of the revolver is concerned?
Are both closed at the bottom? Does one hold the gun closer to the body than the other?

The Avenger holds it a bit higher and the grip closer to the body!

Food for thought:

Everything in holster design involves compromises among the 4 basic factors of comfort, accessibility, security, and concealment. Whenever one of these factors is emphasized there will be compromises in the other factors. There is no such thing as the "perfect" holster design for every application or every user. Only the user can decide which factors are most important for his/her circumstances, and how much compromise he/she is willing to accept.

The Enhanced Pancake Model was designed for a high degree of concealability, along with reasonable comfort and accessibility, and good overall security (retention quality). Rides moderately high and very close to the body when mounted to a solidly built belt that is properly fitted to the holster's attachment points.

The Enhanced Avenger Model was designed with more emphasis on accessibility (particularly ease of draw and holstering the handgun). Concealment is reasonably good, but not to the same degree as the Enhanced Pancake Model. Security is reasonably good for most activities, but very strenuous activities (running, jumping, horseback riding, etc) may present a need for additional security (retention strap, thumb-break, etc). Comfort is generally very good, but this design also calls for a very sturdy belt to anchor the holstered handgun solidly.

Responses to your specific questions: (1) both of these designs feature open bottoms; (2) the Enhanced Pancake Model provides the closest carry to the body (subject to belt comments above).

General comment in response to the OP's question (suitability for 4" N-frame 629): The Enhanced Pancake Model is probably the best available holster selection for comfortable and discreet carry of the larger handguns (again, please note comments regarding the need for a sturdy gun belt to serve as a foundation for the holstered handgun).

I am retired. While I continue to serve in an advisory capacity for Lobo Gun Leather the company is now owned and controlled by the Fedders family, with most of my original designs remaining in production. More than a year has passed since the change of ownership and, in my opinion, product quality and customer service consistently meets or exceeds anything I was ever capable of.

Best regards.
