Angry Ideas on real gun leather for new gun

I can't find any web site that has a specific left handed heather holster for my new M&P Shield .45. I prefer leather with a thumb break, at minimum a open top leather holster that is molded to my gun.

Am I out of luck or is there a hidden Jem that I don't know about, very frustrated indeed.

Sites I have been to.

I haven't gone specifically to look, but I would suggest Tucker Gunleather or Lobo Gunleather. Either will add a thumb-break to their holster for a small fee.

I have a Lobo Enhanced Pancake fully lined for my Sig 1911 Carry Nightmare and I love it. I had a problem with the thumb-break flipping the safety off, but I trimmed the leather in the area back to the stitching and it hasn't done it since.

You could monitor these guys for a left handed holster. I have an Ambush for my Glock and it's extremely nice. Looks like they're ramping up M&P products.

DeSantis makes a leather scabbard with and without a thumb break and a mini scabbard without a scabbard. They make a left hand version for your gun.DeSantis Holsters - Official Site

Look up Simply Rugged Leather, They custom make their holsters one at a time, they do it pretty quickly and the price is right. I have quite a few of them for various pistols and revolvers. I only have to buy once, I don't have a draw full of holsters I bought and don't like. I have one of their leather belts also, a must for comfortable carry with any holster.

Lobo made a holster for my lefty son's Ruger and it looked great. I'd give them a try in a minute.

Try K.L. Null Holsters Home Page. If he doesn't have it listed I'm pretty sure he would make it for you. His holsters don't need a retainer like a thumb break as they are molded to retain the gun properly.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to the page, We had our family range day and we got to burn about a 1,000 rounds through both the XDS and the M&P shield. We brought 3 different types of ammo and each gun performed flawless. I do have to admit I like the Shield better as it a bit longer grip.

As for the holster, I bought a cheap one today but it will be much better to get one that fits my gun perfectly, The reason I wanted a thumb break is because I ride motorcycles and didn't want it going anywhere if I should go down. The last time I had an accident my thumb break took a heck of a beating but kept the gun in place and in the holster.

Andrew Custom Leather makes some awesome holsters. Been looking at a Hippo leather holster for one of my revolvers, but it is kinda pricey.

So long as you only low-side, you and your pistol have a pretty good chance of survival :-). Those high-sides -- or hitting anything at speed -- will likely mean that only the pistol will survive. The former can just be bad luck, the latter is typically weak skills.

Low sides are loss of grip at the front tyre, high sides are impacts, or the rear tyre regaining grip under power; nasty.
