If I was a Texas law man...
I'd wear this. A Myres Jordan model floral carved and whip stitched holster for a 4" K frame revolver. I have a few rawhide edged Myres holsters but I don't see as many of them as I'd like. The Jordan photo and explanation is from a 1962 dated Myres catalog. Whip stitching was $2.50 extra.

I like the Jordan Border Patrol. I like laced. I like carved.

I have read that when so many were making the Jordan style Border
Patrol holster, some of them were very poor quality. So Bill got a
copyright on the name, and gave the exclusive use of the name to
Don Hume. I wonder what happened to his relationship with Myres.
Do you know?

I love the workmanship in holsters like that. Very few people do that anymore I think.

One rarely sees the Myres version of Bill's holster. Much more common are the Hume, and even the Herrett's (probably made by Hume) has crossed my path more often than yours, John :-). I knew Bill and recall fondly when he drawled to me, "Look me straight in the face when you talk, boy, I read lips" because he was deaf as a post from gunfire.

Found myself in a room full of TX lawmen just this morning. Not holster in sight that looked anything like that.

I have one, basket weave stamped that was issued to me just before academy graduation in 1978. Used it for 2-3 years til I upgraded to a similar model made by Safariland that had a thumbbreak.

I have one like this and was able to wear it , very briefly, before the department changed weapons and holsters. Retired today and still miss those days

There is a huge difference between the fancy dress/barbecue rig and a duty rig. Most of the Texas cops I have met/seen use typical duty rigs similar to what are used elsewhere. In a uniform type situation, I wore, and would again, a quality security holster, probably from Safariland.

I have owned Safariland holsters since 1973 and almost always used one as my duty rig. However, by the late 1990s, they had gone to using some sort of plastic material. Many of the officers I knew that carried them experienced cracking of the material around the thumb break. I haven' examined any Safariland gear in years now, so I don't know how they are holding up or how they are constructed.

I recall seeing that on a few of the 070 holsters, but never experienced it. Not sure how many, but it's about 5 for different models. I'm a fan of the ALS, such as on the 7TS models. I have a couple of them and they work pretty well.
