I have been constructing a chronological history of
Idaho holsters:
Royal Eubanks started Eubanks Leather in 1939. His maker
mark is EUBANKS LEATHER BOISE, IDAHO.
He sold to Pioneer Tent & Awning in 1949 with a 5 year
non-compete agreement. Pioneer used the maker mark
EUBANKS PIONEER LEATHER BOISE, IDAHO
Upon expiration of the non-compete in 1954 Royal Eubanks
went back into business as IDAHO LEATHER BOISE, IDAHO.
I have samples of holsters with the above 3 maker marks
and a lot of the details.
But, I recently found this holster, shown below, with the
maker mark: THE PIONEER COMPANY BOISE, IDAHO.
I know Pioneer Tent & Awning had leather products, bridles
and such, prior to buying Eubanks, but this is the first and
only holster I have come across with this mark.
I'm wondering if they made holsters prior to buying Eubanks
or maybe when Eubanks went back in business they used this
name so as to not mention his name?
Have any of you seen this mark before, or have a holster
with this mark?
In case you can't read it on my photo, it says:
THE PIONEER COMPANY BOISE, IDAHO.
