I just got my 1st pelican case. Before I cut the foam, and prolly wreck it, is there an advantage to the ejection port being up or down? It's a bolt action rifle, so I won't be transporting it with the bolt in.....
Any experience or opinions welcome.

There are a couple of terrific videos on cutting pelican foam on you tube. Apparently your electric carving knife for that Thanksgiving Turkey does excellent double duty in this labor. Sorry but I have no comment on the up or down issue, but I have read that you should never use the Pelican for long term storage as it holds any present moisture inside the case.

My experience with the Pelican case has been good. I don't think that there is any advantage or disadvantage having the action up or down. Isaactc is correct in his assessment that you have to be careful about moisture retention. The foam doesn't degrade too much or too fast but you must be careful about moisture. They are great cases though..

Spray adhesive puts back the foam perfectly.

Most pelican cases have layers, cant you just flip the layer over, so the ejection port is now facing up?
