Looking for a holster to use while walking/working the back property with my new 629 deluxe. Recommendations appreciated. Left handed so it will have to be custom made i assume. Picked this up as we have black bear and this time of year...cubs. Thanks.
I just got a Simply Rugged Sourdough for my 3" 629. I can carry my 2.5" 686 and Smith 24 and 25 snubs in it too. You can carry it conventional or cross draw. Real nice workmanship and made for your gun.
I second the Simply Rugged. while I do not have one, I have seen one for a 3 inch 686+. Great craftsmanship and a pretty good price for something that can be worn iwb, owb, and owb crossdraw.
Working in the woods or other rough work IMHO calls for a full flap holster.
23 years in the Army proved it for me.
Another possibility is the Lobo full Flap Field Holster.
All made to order, and great folks to work with, too.
I use a Don Hume, Bill Jordan design OWB holster for my 3" 629-2E while hiking in the mountains and camping. It rides so comfortably and has a great draw to it.
I bought it on ebay years ago while the NOS Don Hume "2nds" were readily available but I have now seen that they are pretty much dried up. Although it seems like lefties are still floating around, so you may want to look. That's granted you want that type of OWB holster.
