I have a vintage Mika J frame holster that still in the package. I have two of his modern J frame holsters which are very different. Does anyone know when this holster is from roughly? It has his address in Calabasses CA and the packaging and holster (internally) are both marked "Law enforcement use only". Any help would be great, thanks!

Have you thought of emailing the picture to him and asking? I've bought a few holsters from him over the past several years and he's very pleasant to deal with.

I would but I don't have a direct email address for him. His site only has the contact us feature where you leave your info and question. I tried that feature on his site twice in the past when I bought modern holsters but never got a response.

Looks like mine. Bought it in the early 90's and it's still going strong. Newer ones have an added no-skid strip added. For the life of me I can't figure out why. Mine has NEVER come out with the gun. Mika holsters are simple perfection.

As I recall, he retired from the LAPD around 1992, so it would be early 1990s as bill2000 says.

I thought the same thing as I briefly used this one to try it vs the current design. This one seems thinner and less bulky to me and works better if you wear more tailored or dress clothing. I'll problem switch to the vintage one once I start pocket carrying more again in the summer which is the only time I do mostly.

Robert Mika just called me and told me all about it! It's is actually from 1985
when the holsters were only available at police supplies in his area where he had them first available to other officers. Hence the "Law enforcement only" markings. The packaging also was for the store displays he put them on. He was amazed I still had this new in package one. He said it was his Model T of the J frame holsters that started it all.

I just received my J-frame Mika pocket holster in today's mail. Quality and well made. I like the personal touch of when he calls you when the order is placed and also where he writes "his name made for your name" and date inside the holster. Well done and a nice touch!

Best buy for the money if you need a pocket holster. It has raised my confidence in being able to conceal carry without anyone else knowing. That is the true hidden value of a Mika holster.
