Default Custom 2 gun rig for a Swedish cowboy

A great guy in Sweden had me make him a two gun rig for his percussion "Colts". Pants belt, gun belt, and two holsters (one cross draw). We collaborated ideas via many Emails and his color choice matched his custom made shirt. I didn't know until the end that he shoots original Colts. Top picture are my guns (2nd generation 1851 Colt & Uberti 1860), others are pics he sent back with his real 1860s era Colts. He said he was wearing his guns and holsters around the office and the girls said, "Don't you guys ever grow up?". Looks like men and women are the same all over. He's in Sweden and shoots real Colts, rides a Harley, and knows American western history better than most people I know. It was real fun working with him on these.

They sure do. The satiny look of the grips look so much better than my guns with their spaghetti sauce dark red grips.

Good enough for Wild Bill, good enough for the Swedes. Are there cows in Sweden?

Really beautiful "Slim Jims". We must not forget that the Great Edward H. Bohlin was born in Sweden in 1895. There must be more Swedes that love the American West.

That's very nice work, Wyatt. I wonder how to say "Yippee Ti Yi Yay" in Swedish? I'm half Swede since my grandfather and almost all his siblings emigrated to northern Illinois in the late 1800s. Most Swedes know English which is taught in grammar school. We may see Swedes coming over again in the near future(hope that's not too political).

From his Emails I thought he was an American living in Sweden at first. There was no 'accent" whatsoever in his writing. So maybe he learned English in school.

Excellent! Cowboy action shooters love that kind of gorgeous western style holster.

There are CAS clubs in Europe. I bet your customer is in one!

Beautiful work. I'd love to have a closer look at that border stamping, if you have any close up photos.

Thanks. Here's one. It's done using four stamps in the front plus the adjustable groover that makes the double lines. I had to make a point to have the tooling area a certain length so that continuous "veiner" stamp following the double lines on the inside ended just right without one being half stamped in a corner. Hope I made sense there.

Thanks for the photo and the explanation! I like the way you did the end of the holster, bringing the stamping up inside the border. And I take it that's your maker's mark on the reverse?

You know Jesse James favored the Slim Jim style.

The border stamping really accentuates the design and the lines of the Slim Jim holster style, much more so than floral carving or basket stamping would.

Again, it's work with class.

That stamping you like coming up at the bottom of the border was the buyers idea. I wasn't sure what to do there so he sent a drawing of an idea and that's what I went for. That's the collaborating I do with people all the time. I made a couple Jesse James type holsters. This one showing the buyer's gun in it follows the general lines of the J.J. tooling pattern only more detailed.

Sounds like you have my Pietta 1858 New Army instead of your Uberti & Colt .

My Colt is from the early 1980s and has very red grips just like Ubertis. I believe it is Italian made parts assembled in New Jersey and finished here. Earlier ones had grips that were oiled wood instead of dark red Italian style.
