Default Holster Advice needed for 4" 686

Hey everyone. I have my first 686 on the way and expect it to arrive later this week. I need some advice on getting a holster.

I'd like to keep it around $50 and need to be able to order it and receive it by next Monday for a trip I'm going on. I want it to have a thumb break, and be an OWB.

I've been looking at the Desantis, but thought I'd see if anyone has experience with that or other models before placing an order. After I've had that for awhile I'll use it as a frame of reference on a nicer one. Thanks!

Yes, if I had to have it fast, it would be a Bianchi 5BHL from Amazon Prime.

Agree 100%, even though it's a bit more money than the OP's (too low, IMHO) $50 budget. I use one for my 4" 686 and it's perfect.

Spend a few bucks more and buy good quality leather. Quality is very important when it comes comfortable carry, and the quality of your belt should match the holster. If you had more time, I would suggest belts and holsters made by Simply Rugged in AZ. There are lots of other good custom leather crafters out there, too.

Thanks, and I eventually will. But as I said I need one rather quick for a trip so that's why I'm trying not to spend too much for one initially.

Buckmark13, what did you end up getting and how did you like it? I'm interested in this topic because I also just acquired a 4" 686 which I will be carrying occasionally in the woods, OWB, strong side.
Any other recommendations that are good quality (as opposed to one size fits all) and won't break the bank?
I definitely appreciate the custom holsters but my occasional usage just doesn't justify the cost in most cases.
Thanks!

Check your local pawn shop, I scored last week an almost new Bianchi x2100 shoulder holster for $30. And on ebay no less, a new Don Hume break front duty holster for $15. Both holsters are over 100 dollar holsters. I also paid less than $25 for a new Don Hume L frame border patrol holster 5 years ago. The border patrol is a very good woods holster.

After my first vintage Lawrence holster I've grown real fond of them. I have a 4" that I picked up off Ebay, the only modification I had to make to it was to lengthen the retaining strap length which required attaching a new snap. I lost the original Lawrence logo on the snap but am very happy with the result. The early Lawrence holster did not accomidate full target stocks. If you keep your eyes peeled on Ebay or even Gunbroker you will see deals on early holsters by different manufacturers, I believe I've picked up several very nice Lawrence holsters for around $50. Good Luck...
