Default Antique and Exotic Gun Leather

Howdy,

I am a gun leather lover and collector. Lately as it seems I have some interesting stuff. The following holster was a US Army Captured Item from Fort Bowie, Arizona Territory in 1879. I had deciphered most of what the tag says and from what I gathered it belonged to the Apache Chief "Nana" who was Geronimo's brother in law.

It is made out of rawhide with brass tacks and remnants of an old carpet bag on the rib of the holster. The mouth was made to fit a Colt Single Action Army although the photographs I have show an 1877 Colt Lightning. The toe is open and the holster is in amazingly good shape. The tag itself is made out of rawhide written in India ink.

There are several good books like the following:

Blood and Thunder: The story about Kit Carson and his exploits.

In The Days of Victorio: About the Warm Spring Apache and they specifically spoke about Chief Nana leader of the Warm Springs Apache.

The Boy Captives: The story of two boys who were captured by the Comanche and one of the boys was traded to the Apache

Take a peek and tell me what you think.

I will be posting some other Exotic Holsters later for you to view.

Bests to you all

Howdy All,

I have attached more items of Exotic Gun leather.

I have a two (2) piece Horned Back Alligator Belt, Holster and Magazine Pouch for a 1911 with a four inch barrel. Probably made in the 1930's or 1940's. I added the Alligator belt buckle and I have the original alligator buckle I replaced it with.

The rig is valued at over $1500. and is by far my absolute favorite Bar-B-Que gun accessory.

In the last photograph it is the one on the very bottom

Take a peek

Back again.

This time with my Elephant Ear holster for a .455 Webley Revolver with a clipped belt buckle. Probably made in the 1940's or 1950's and is in really good shape.

It is the rig in the center of the last photograph.

Thanks for looking

Regards

Back again.

Here are photographs of my Crocodile cartridge belt that had been modified in its past history to carry both rifle cartridges and shotgun shells. I purchased it from a seller in Australia. Several years ago.

This belt is at the top of the last photograph and it probably had a single shoulder strap that is now missing.

Enjoy

Welcome to the forum from another vintage holster collector--by that I mean that both the collector and collection are vintage. You'll find a few of us hanging around here. I'm mostly into the between wars stuff often used by Texas lawmen and their adversaries (and sometimes worn to BBQs and church) . Interesting collection you have accumulated.

Default Thanks

Hi Randy,

Thanks for the welcome. I am not quite sure how many holsters and gun belts I have probably 60 at least.

I have bought and sold hundreds. Here are a few more Exotic Holsters. Three old ones one 1920-1930 Hornback Alligator Fleece Lined, small Alligator holster for a S&W Lemon Squeezer and a 1911 Snake Skin lined and tooled leather single loop probably made in the 1950s.
