Default Stealthgear vs Aliengear

I currently have a Stealthgear for my main carry and I love it. I recently bought a Shield for summer carry and am obviously in need of another holster. I'm gravitating towards the Stealthgear but I have never tried an aliengear and have heard a lot of good things.. including the fact that it's 1/3 of the cost.

Has anyone out there tried both? Looking for input.

I have tried neither and that's only because I carry only one pistol year round. But I do know that alien gear does offer free shell swaps for lifetime. And if you don't want to swap them and just keep them they are only $15 per extra shell.

Friends don't let friends buy Taurus.

Love my Stealthgear Onyx. Even though it was expensive it was worth it. Possibly the most comfortable holster I've ever used.

Tried an Alien Gear and really didn't like it. Found it generally too big and the kydex shells are really wide and pretty much have no curve to them. I especially dislike them for smaller pistols like the Shield. I think the main reason they are popular is the price point and some people probably like the "modularity" of the design since you can buy the replacement shells and use the same backing.

I currently use the Aliengear for my Ruger sr9c, but I just bought a Shield 9mm.

I don't mind the Aliengear holster, but I have to either wear the perfect pair of pants (has more to do with where the belt loops are), or make adjustments throughout the day, or the holster is not very comfortable to me. I have found that it can have a tendency to move backwards on my belt loop (again, depending on where the loops are) as my day goes by.

In my opinion, if you already use a Stealthgear, I would get another one for your Shield. It may cost more, but you know you will be comfortable all day long.

I wanted to add a little more about the Aliengear holster. I have been wearing it all morning, and it has literally been a pain in my side... Not to mention, the screws that hold the clips onto the holster work their way loose after a while. Unless you keep an allen wrench on hand, this could be an issue. I have been wearing the ARC holster from Blackhawk for about 30 minutes now, with the Shield 9mm, and I barely even notice it is there. To me, the AG holster is a little too bulky, in the sense of having so much material, not the actual width. Maybe it would be better with the Shield vs. the sr9c, but I will never know.

I must mention that the only experience that I have with the Aliengear holster is with a Ruger sr9c, which is a bit more bulky than the Shield 9mm.

I have an Alien Gear IWB for my Commander and it carry's ok, but, it collapse when the gun is drawn and I cannot holster without unbuckling my belt and the button on my jeans. Bought a Tucker Summer Comfort and never looked back.

I actually just ordered the StealthGear mini for my Shield 9mm. I am hoping that it is as comfortable as the reviews that I am reading...

I have never used Stealthgear, but I have worn out a Crossbreed (which was replaced without question).

I have a couple of Alien Gear IWB that I chose due to their reputation for being a bit "loose". I like to put a thin layer of leather on the inside of the Kydex and this looseness was quite helpful in that endeavor.

I think you'll be happy.

I was apprehensive when I ordered my Onyx mini because of the price. Glad I spent the money because it is one of the most comfortable holsters I've ever used. Similar holsters with a leather backing make a big "hot spot" for me but the Stealthgear with its vent-core backing really "breathes" and doesn't give me that hot feeling.

I was a little apprehensive about this style of holster (Stealthgear or Aliengear) with a smaller pistol (Shield), so I ordered a Blackhawk ARC holster when I bought the Shield. The ARC is alright, but I can see me having to adjust it several times throughout a day's use.
