Default Holster for 3" Model 60-15

Well I'll start by saying I'm not an everyday carry guy and probably never will be but there are times - hiking, etc. - when I like to have a gun with me. Looking for a comfortable OWB holster that won't beat the you know what out of my 3" Model 60-15. Ideas and preferably photos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check out the pancake holster from Rodek Leather. I have one for several revolvers and it is very durable and comfortable.

I was lucky enough to find a Roy Baker Pancake Holster for my 36-6 and 60-4. I am a huge fan of them as they distribute the weight and make a gun disappear. I use them for many revolvers and a few semi autos. I have carried a six inch Model 29 and forgotten I had it on. That said, a good gun belt is as important as the holster.

Its the top left holster in this "covey shot" of my J fame Roy Baker Pancake Holsters.

Likewise a 5BHL with Model 36 3”. Top is a 5BHL with model 63 4”

I'll go along with Bill re Roys pancake holsters, have a few that are favorites for my vintage Smiths & Colts. The bottom left holster with no safety strap is the best of the bunch.

Another vote for Baker the pancake Maker. I wanted the open top and it
took a while, but I found one. If you look closely you might be able to tell
that this holster was made for a 3" barrel. My Colt's Agent (shown) only
has a 2" barrel. No problem. My friend Red Nichols pointed out to me
that with the cylinder partly above the belt, the gun would tend to sag
outward. The extra inch in length would tent to reduce the sagging.
I would send you this one, but it would be a little bit loose for your model
60, and I would not want to part with it.

However, as mentioned a couple of times, the Bianchi 5BH
would be a good choice. Here, 2nd from left, is mine with my
S&W Model 10 with 2" barrel. I read an article one time about
a Bianchi holster that was made for Federal Narc Officers.
I called and asked John which one it was. He said the 5BH.

I don't know if the Model 60-15 comes with a concealed hammer
or not, but some folks remove the hammer spur to render the
revolver DAO. If that is the case with you, Bianchi's Lightning
would be a better choice. 3rd from left with my 642-1

Lots of folks like the pancake style and it is a good choice. The 5BH does not anchor well enough for me. The Safariland Model 29 is not memorably better. My choice is get a custom maker to build what it.

Here is mine for my 3 1/4” I frame.

The Simply Rugged arrived yesterday, and today I completed a full day with it on my belt. Comfortable, sits snug, and easy to forget it's there.

Only one change from a standard Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake; this one only has two slots for strong side carry.

The Bianchi 5BHL is a good holster for OWB, it's readily available and not insanely expensive. I have several 5BHL's, but a pancake holster is more stable on the belt and seems to be better at distributing weight across a larger section of the belt.

This is the OWB I wear the most often anymore. It provides excellent protection for the gun and is comfortable. It keeps the gun very snug against my side and does not "stick out". I can hang a loose tshirt over it and it's easily concealable. ALL my revolvers now have a SR pancake for them.
