J frame metal clips for carry, are they any good?
I have seen a few j frames that have a metal clip attached via the 2 lower frame screws allowing the gun to be slipped on a belt or top of the pants without using a holster. Do any of you use these and if so what do you think of them/ Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated, Thanks...

I'm not a fan of these things.
Jeff Cooper disliked these for safety reasons: trigger isn't covered as it would be in a good holster.
In addition, they don't offer the security of a properly fitted holster. Clip on items, including clip on holsters, are notorious for coming off at inconvenient moments.
They offer little bulk reduction in comparison to a good holster.

Yep, they work great. The trigger is covered by your belt on one side and your bod on the other. Very handy.

Yes they are good. Good for getting you in jail in the state of Ohio. Better check state laws. You have to use a holster in Ohio and for good reason. It is to protect yourself.

No experience with that clip but have used several grips with a clip such as the Barami Hip Grip and the (new ) Desantis Clip Grip. I like these allot . They sit low and the belt sits over the rear edge of the cylinder so the gun doesn't move. Downside is that these systems are best used with stainless guns as they can be tough on the guns finish.

I have had one on my 640-1 for at least 10 years with no problems....it makes IWB appendix very comfortable for me.......and, I still have all of my parts despite the naysayers of the clip

Used a Clip Draw on my 640-3 for about a year. Worked like a charm. I now use an Uncle Mike's model 36 IWB because I have a high acid content in my skin and my 640 was covered with sweat on one side.

I have one that is called "Clipdraw". New in the package.Says it is redesigned. One screw and "provides deeper more secure carry depth".
I do not need it. You are welcome to have it. Just let me know.

Keeps the gun from slipping down inside your pants. This is the modern updated version of the old "shoelace holster" , which did the same thing...but not as well as the clip .

Half the fun of guns is leather shopping. Clip shopping, not so much.

They're better than stuck in waistband with nothing . Even better than covering the stock grips with rubber bands . ( This is an example of Damning with Faint Praise.)

Yes, there is such Ohio statute, and following applicable laws is a good thing. But Good Reason , or wise law - nope .
