How do you carry 45 spare mags ????
The two mag paddle carrier is the only thing I have found to even come close to being able to carry somewhat comfortably and even this is not all that comfortable. the mags are thick and heavy and IWB double pouch just does not do well for me.
Any other idea's ????????

I use individual knife sheaths that I wear on my belt. I can carry 1-2-3-4. they're easily overlooked as people assume either a knife or multitool, and they are nylon with closure. The ones I like best are vertical or horizontal. Best of all, I get really nice ones for $4 each.
I carry everything from LCP magazines (with foam rubber) to double stack 45 magazines comfortably in these.

Why are you using a paddle? Just get the kind that goes on your belt.
EDIT to add: Unless you're a commando going into battle, one spare magazine should be plenty. That'll drop the weight.

When I carry my 1911, if I am not pocket carrying my spares, I have a few of the old Safariland spring steel magazine clips. I use these either for 45 magazines, or for my 439 magazines. They are lightweight and compact. Here is a link to the clip information and image.

OWB Mag Carrier - Kolbeson Leatherworks
Unless I am taking a class, I don't carry more than one spare mag. This one works great, he makes ones that thread on the belt, and clip on. And I just saw he is not accepting orders, but am sure other kydex makers have something close to it.

A duffle bag would likely work as well.

I carry a Colt 1911, either a Commander (usually) or a government model (less frequently).
The vast majority of the time, I don't carry an extra magazine.
When I do, I use a Milt Sparks or DelFatti mag pouch: either single or, less frequently, a double. These are all leather, carry on the belt vertically and only cover about 40% of the magazine. Very minimalist and very comfortable.
I can't imagine carrying a contraption like OP displayed in his initial post, nor would I carry a nylon knife case as a substitute for a proper mag carrier.

Here's how I carry my mags. Haugen double mag pouch.
PS The belt is also by Haugen, the Holster by David Keith,
the blade by Solingen, and the handle by crazyphil.
The 1911 is a series 80 Colt Gold Cup.
The ammo is Federal 230-Gr. Hydra Shok.

2 months ago I was bored. Looking on amazon I found a ankle mag carrier. Made of neoprin (spongy) substance? They had 2 kinds. 2 mags or 4. I bought the 2 mag one. It will handle single or double stack. I like it. Maybe not for EDC. But for trips or special times when I don't want extra on my belt. Just a option!

I have several spare mag carriers for my Commander... my favorite is a Lobo Enhanced Avenger and a Lobo single mag pouch.

Ditto the belt pouches under an un-tucked shirt. I have a single and double from GunMate that can be worn horizontal or vertical on a belt. They're nylon with Velcro closures. I carry none, one or two extra mags depending on where I expect to be/go. High risk areas deserve two mags for a total of 24 rounds for my 9mm Shield. (7+1, 8, 8)
Better to have and not need than to need and not have.

Thanks for all the comments and photos.....
I did find one single belt mag carrier I like..so for normal everyday activities I will carry it and be comfortable with just one spare.
I carry only for self defense so I think 14 rounds will accomodate that need, but if going to high risk area's will carry the double paddle rig until I can find another single one like this one.

I've posted it before, but I just use a sun glass case on my belt. Nobody ever looks at it.
