Heiser for VL&A
I bought this from crazyphil a little over a year ago. He and I thought it was for a 6”K frame. When I tried a K22 the holster wasn’t long enough. Dug it out tonight and found an inch of paper towel and lint in the holster. Now that it’s empty a 2nd Model 44 with 6.5” barrel fits pretty well.

That wadded up paper towel was to take up space, because
I used it to carry my model 19 with 4" barrel. I guess lint
just happens.

I should have known you would not have missed something like that in the holster! My K22 was pretty loose in the holster, that’s why I tried an N frame. Very happy with this one.

What it was made for
Tim, I was just reviewing my notes from when I bought this
holster. I took the pouch out of the loops and found the original
Heiser etching. OP 6. Which would mean Colt's Official Police
with a six inch barrel.
As you can see they mis-marked it 718 and over-stamped it
with 713. I believe it is 713 because I don't think 718 has the
skirt.
The style has been called Mexican style and double loop style.
I have also seen it referred to as Cheyenne style.
I think the 713 was in Heiser's catalog as early as 1915, but
yours was probably not made until 1927 or later because there
was no OPs before 1927.
I have found that S&W K Frames, especially with adjustable
sight like model 19, fit holsters made for Colt's OP. That's
why that is what I used this one for.
Perhaps turnerrive will happen to read this and straighten out
some of my confusion. Particularly these model numbers.

The Colt fitment would explain why the safety strap is a bit loose on both K and N frames. As usual you are correct on the 713 model stamp. Here are two other 713s I’ve posted before, N and J frame.

Wadded up paper towel in a holster, I use a wine cork cut to size. Classy!
