Default 1911 HOLSTERS

Do you have a favorite holster or holsters to carry your 1911?
Here are a few that I kinda like. Left to Right:

The 1911 Colt Gold Cup, an unmarked U.S. flap holster, on
a web belt.

2nd photo left to right: An Idaho Leather holster not made for
the 1911, but it fits. A work of art by David Keith. And an
Alamo that I rescued.

3rd photo starting upper left and going clockwise: DeSantis
HRT. When the FBI SWAT team went to the 1911 DeSantis
provided the holster. The ever popular Milt Sparks VMII IWB.
Safariland's Model 561 (the 560 is a paddle, the 561 has belt
loops). Kirkpatrick's TSS Texas Strong Side.

DeSantis Speed Scabbard and the original Bianchi Askins Avenger are about all I have used for the past 20 years...

These are a couple of my favorites. The first is a carved Heiser , the second is an Alfonso's of Hollywood.

Phil,

I only have a few... You've seen this one before, an El Paso Saddlery "Tom Threepersons", for my 1961 .38 Super Colt Commander:

I have a couple more, I'll try to find or take photos.

Best Regards, Les

Top row, L to R:

Bianchi, Rybka, Davis, Bacon, Bianchi, Anderson, Anderson, Gaylord

2nd row:

Bianchi, Cobra, Heiser and Myres with a Jackass partially covering them, Alfonso's, unknown, Seventrees and an Alessi and Lewis at bottom

I like this trio, a couple Andersons for Gov't. Model and Commander and a John Parlante (Cobra) re-make for IWB:

Perhaps someone can help identify this unmarked recent eBay find, sort of Brill-like, note the very thick welt:

Hey Phil, I second a thank you for starting another cool thread.
That holster is black and was made by me. It resides with another member now. I'm glad you like it.

I'll bet Red can ID that unmarked one with the thick welt.
Hope he gets around to looking at this thread.

And you, db, my friend, are on the verge of having too much
great leather. If such a thing is possible. Thanks for showing
it off.

At left I would expect Shelton Payne Arms, based on its construction details. For the 1911 these sometimes had a divider of sorts inside, stitched into the seam, dunno its purpose.

Nice to see something new for me :-). The rear fold Andersons, tho he did this on heavy steel reinforced Thunderbolts for competition, are new to me. And the Brill style in black is a gorgeous interpretation as a proper Threepersons for the 1911 (neither Myres nor Brill did a proper one). I love everything about its execution and have no idea of its maker tho only Bucheimer used thar border stamping tool with basket weave (and there is nothing else that is Bucheimer about this holster). Its been built by someone who knew how to correct the Brill auto's shortcoming as a Threepersons: completely unshrouded the trigger guard, used the triple welt instead of the single, and eliminated the hand sewing and the muzzle lip altogether.

Perhaps you have pics of it, and the Andersons, that you'd like to have included in The Book?

A plain ol' Heiser.

A 1918 vintage Warren Leather Goods Co. contract M1916 holster with a Colt Model 1911.

I actually used this pistol and holster back in the late 1970s for hiking on our old family place.

If Im not mistaken that wide welt holster is the product of one Stacey Becknell of San Angelo Texas. The late Mr Becknell was known for his style of leather. It was carried by many a Texas Ranger, amongst others who were very picky about their holster. This style allowed for a forward cant while wearing a gunbelt below the trousers belt. I have a few revolver and 1911 style holsters of this type. I met Stacey when I worked as a rookie officer back in the day. Lots of good looking leather!

Joe, thank you for giving me a name to chase down. Please share photos of your similar holsters if you can.
