Default THE ULTIMATE 1911 HOLSTER?

Actually I don't like the word ultimate. In the gun magazines
it seems that every new gun, holster, or other accessory that
comes along is the ultimate.

As an adjective ultimate can mean the best, the greatest,
and/or unsurpassed.

I don't know if all those words describes this holster, but I
love Heiser's holsters, I love good carving, and I love lacing.
This model 728 even has a sewn-in toe plug.

So, if there is such a thing as ultimate, this is it for me,
at least until the next one comes along.

I was surfing on the bay last weekend when I came upon it.
It was a brief but fierce bidding war, but my strategy prevailed.
It was a premium price, but I believe it is a premium holster.

2nd photo shows my new 3 favorites from Lawrence, Heiser,
and Myres.

For whatever it's worth, I totally agree with you about this holster. The basic design of the holster epitomizes just what's necessary to carry the 1911. I've always questioned the need for a retention strap on 1911 holsters, and frankly, I'm still up in the air about it. The sewn in toe plug is the icing on the cake for me...don't see those too often these days unless it's a special request to the maker.

I'd probably have engaged in a bidding battle on this one, too. Seriously, it's simply gorgeous. It looks brand new. Congratulations on getting it.

Phil, I have to agree that is a dandy. One of the nicest 1911s I have seen!! How tight does the gun fit in it. Also what model gun fits in the one at the bottom, I need something like that for my pre-27 with a strap................................M*

Just right tight. Hold it upside down over the bed and shake
it, it don't fall out. But it comes out quick when I pull it.

The gun on the lower right is a S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum.
4" N-Frame. The holster is Myres #614 Tom Threepersons.

I noticed the lining, but forgot to mention it. Looking at its lighter color...is it pigskin, maybe? Or perhaps deerhide? Any way to tell for sure? I love lined holsters of almost any style. For everyday use, I won't buy an unlined holster. Well, I take that back...I have unlined everyday holsters, but they're for polymer framed pistols, so I don't worry about holster wear on them.

Purty holsters, all of 'em. I have a soft spot for the Heiser 1911 one, though. A beauty.

Those are very nice holsters, too nice for me. I would somehow screw them up. I usually stick to the plain black easy to touch-up versions.

I'm not sure what the lining is. I don't think it's pigskin.
Maybe buckskin.

Phil......I think the only thing that would top it off would be a shiny 1911 with Indian Sanbar Stags or yellowed carved Ivory. They would let you in about any BBQ you wanted!!!........................................M-

Yes, the gun is too modern-looking for that holster. Old stag or ivory grips are needed, at a minimum.

The Colt Gold Cup is 33 years old. The grip panels are Herrett's.
I like it.

What you need now is a matching belt and you will be set for any Sunday Bar-B-Que. Great looking holster. It you get a chance can you show the back side as well?

I also like the Heisers Phil. This one is very similar to yours and possesses all of the features you mention that are found on yours. I bought this years ago before the prices went crazy.

Default BEAUTIFUL, PHIL!

Really snazzy holsters, Phil. I'm envious!

Oh, BTW, besides "ultimate", don't forget "epic", "incredible", & "totally", which are all used inappropriately. The dumbing down of the English language.

CrazyPhil, That is one nice looking piece of leatherwork. By any chance can you tell what the lacing is ? And if you don't mind could you post a picture without the pistol in it. I'm curious what the inside back looks like.

The inside (lining) looks like what you can see through the
trigger guard, with skuffs from the gun going in & coming
out.

Probably buckskin. My guess is that the
lacing is rawhide.

I have been lusting for one like that carved Viking you picked
up a while back. If you decide you don't need it, let me know.
