LOVE THESE FLOWERS
I have been liking floral carved holsters for a while now, so I
was surfing on Gunbroker just to see what they had. Well,
I came across this Viking 75. I didn't have a Viking, and I
could "buy now" for $25 so I just couldn't resist.
I doubt I will carry my 1911 Colt in it. I carry cocked & locked,
and don't like to deal with all the snaps, etc.
I was surprised. The Viking is actually quite well made.

BTW A previous owner G. R. Allen etched his name on the back of the
holster. If any of you know G. R. tell him his holster is in good hands
BTW #2 I just scored another similar holster except this time by Hunter.
Cost a little more, but not much. I will show it when it comes, when I
clean it up, and when I figure out if I have a gun to fit in it.

The Viking holsters I've seen have all been better in quality than the selling price would indicate. They just don't have the name brand recognition of a Heiser or Lawrence.
I also believe Browning branded holsters may have actually been made by Viking. That WAG is based on style comparison and that every Browning holster I've ever seen has a 'made in Mexico' marking similar to Vikings.
I would've given 25 bucks for that one. Wonder how well it fits a Hi Power?

They say the size 75 fits both the 1911 and the Hi Power.
I don't have a Hi Power so I couldn't guarantee that.

$25 for that holster would be hard to beat. I like it a lot.
Talking about not carrying your 1911 in it...I'm thinking that holster wasn't made for a 1911. What do you think? Yes, it fits, but just doesn't look like a 1911 style holster. Except for full flap holsters, most 1911 holsters I see leave the trigger/trigger guard exposed. Hard for me to tell by looking at your photo, but it doesn't look like there's much to grab onto to draw the pistol after you loosen the retention strap. Just looks more like a revolver holster to me.

I know what you're saying, but a cylinder would likely be a tight fit - if it would even fit at all....
I agree that I wouldn't carry a 1911 in that one due to the retention strap, hence my comment about the Hi Power.

I'm sure you're right...it's just the overall style of the holster that's throwing me off.

Not a bad piece of work. There are quite a few small mistakes in the carving but only a Leatherworker would spot them.

It was advertised as a holster for a revolver with 6" barrel,
but I have seen several size 75s with the 1911 type in them
so I thought they were mistaken. I have also seen the size
75 advertised as for both 1911 and HI Powers.

Many of the mistakes are with the background tool.Doing a nice background is time consuming and You can tell whoever did this was in a rush. You can see near the top where they stamped over the border and also near the petal of the lower flower. The swivel knife cuts are not nice and flowing like on a Lawrence Leather Carving.I'm not picking it apart by any means,Just things that caught my Eye.

I just tried my K Frames in it just for fun. The model 10 fits ok, with a
little bit of wiggle room. But my model 10 is 4" so there was almost
2" inches available in the holster.
Those K Frames (M19 and M67) with adjustable rear sights would
not fit.

I like the holster. Just a comment though...I would think you'd want the retention strap to go between the hammer and the back of the slide, not over the back strap, where it defeats the grip safety. Will the strap fit that way?

That is how I would prefer to carry it too, but the strap won't
work in that way.

I had a similar holster once (except with exposed trigger guard), and it had the strap that fit between the rear of the slide and the hammer when the gun was carried at full cock with the safety on.
Just to see if it actually kept the hammer from falling, I put the empty pistol in the holster, put the strap in place, then pulled the trigger. Uh-oh. The hammer made the strap slide right up over the smooth rounded back of the slide...the gun would have fired for sure. So then I just started putting the strap down below the beavertail.

and...
I got more flowers to share... another Viking...Mdl62. My 19 4" is really tight, maybe a Mdl 10 4" would work better.

I have a Viking holster that is Browning marked for a First Series Challenger pistol and another, that is basketweave stamped for a 4" J Frame that I use for my Kit Gun. They are both well made. The one for the 4" J frame was very reasonably priced, the Browning marked examples typically bring more money.
