Default Wanted..a GOOD quality leather OWB holster. <$100.00

Tired of AG's due to kydex. Ease of reholstering is important. Thanks!

Check out Side Guard Holsters. Their quality is very good, with a very good value. I haven't used any of their OWB holsters, but I've used one of their IWB holsters, the Quick Clip, nearly every day for the past 6 years or so and it's still going strong. They go for $55, IIRC. I believe their OWB holsters should be similarly priced. The wait is long, though. I believe it's at 12 weeks now.

There are some mighty talented folks right here on this forum. They can make something exactly the way you like it.

Do a search on BBQ rigs.

...maybe he meant AD???

Anyway, take a look at the DeSantis Speed Scabbard. They are made for most semis and revolvers....I have them for most of my guns... About $50 and no waiting.

There are a lot of good quality leather holsters available for under $100.
To recommend, I would need to know what gun you intend to carry,
what you are carrying for, where you prefer to carry ie OWB, IWB,
Ankle, Shoulder, etc. etc.

Galco is the best maker of first-quality leather concealable holsters today (in my expert opinion). They took that title from Bianchi decades ago. DeSantis is still quite good. So-called 'custom' makers won't give you better quality but will certainly give you a long lead-time (they sell standardised items that aren't really custom made anyway).

As for style of holster, the most stable is the pancake style (I recommend an asymmetrical style over the original symmetrical style) and for autos especially: the 'half pancake' that is called the Avenger style and is super popular. Something with a single belt loop on the back is the least stable along the belt yet is time proven for exactly 100 years.

I bet that's what the holster is for. Yes, I have too much time on my hands today.

Have to second rednichol's opinion, Galco is the finest leather holster you can purchase today "off the rack" and most are priced well below 100 dollars. My preference for OWB duty is the Galco Silhouette and for tuckable IWB duty it's the Galco Skyops. BTW the Silhouette is a high riding canted OWB holster with a thumb break.

I can also tell you that a touch of bees wax on the snap will make them easy off easy on without compromising how well they hold, something I learned many many years ago when I got my first boat. Note, Atlas Door Ease is available in many auto parts shops is primarily bees wax.

PS: Galco also offers Kydex/leather combinations but I have no interest at all in a Kydex holster no matter how well made or inexpensive it is. Because I am a geezer who believes that the only holster you use for a handgun should be made of leather.

My favorite holsters are Galco Fletch for my 45, Mernikle PS6-a for my single action, and my newly acquired Sour Dough Pancake, from Simply Rugged for my revolver. I am happy with all of them. I do believe you get what you pay for. All of my holsters do have to be leather. Kinda set in my ways.

On Amazon you can fin Bianchi Cyclone Holsters for $30 Dollars += At my local gun shop they are *$80-100+= depending on the gun. I bought a 3" and 6" for less than $70.0 for both. These for revolvers.K frame

I agree with Red... off the shelf it is hard to beat Galco. I have a couple of them, a couple of the original Lobo holsters and some Viking rigs.

If you want quality leather you don't have to go any farther than this forum. Our own member "05CarbonDRZ" does outstanding leather work. Alex has made me holsters for 2 custom revolvers and a Colt 1911. His willingness and ability to make changes to designs to fit a particular gun or need, and his attention to detail, result in leather gear that is exactly what you asked for, fits and works as you expect, and looks great.

This is the holster and ammo slide Alex made for my 3" .41mag M28-2, it fits and wears perfectly. I put it straight to work as soon as it arrived!

I suggest checking out Daltechforce I have had lots of luck with this company, they have lots of styles of holsters and are custom molded to fit your side arm perfectly. Plus everything is made in the great USA!

I have several El Paso Street Combat holsters that I use I like them and easy to reholster gun as they do not collapse when gun is removed.

About a month ago I bought a holster from Winthrop for my Sig P250sc pistols. Ordered it about 10:00 a.m. on a Saturday and had it the following Wednesday. This holster is sturdy, hugs my body well, appears to be well made, and was $50.00.

Many good recommendations here, but I'm going to cast another vote for Galco. I got their Concealable Belt Holster for my Sig P229 some years ago and it is clearly a well-designed high-quality product that works as intended. They use a molding process that makes reholstering very easy. MSRP of just over your price point, but street price is usually just under.

I disagree with rednichols.

I mean Galco does not make bad holsters, but they make 2 levels. A $40-$60 level that is a rough size fit holster that is barely serviceable and a $100 + level that fits and looks pretty good, but has odd design features that make it sub-par, imo. Things like marginally functional tension adjusters or less than full grip.

Still, pretty good and in many lgs.

IMO, if you know what you want, there are $60-$100 rigs that are a full step above Galco in fit, fit to user and other small details. Those things are important.

Trouble is, not all custom makers really know the details. Buy what you have tried or comes strongly recommended.
