Yesterday I rode along with my friend to pick up an early model 67 he'd been after for the past year. We went to a little gun shop on the edge of the Everglades, the FFL computer was down so we waited and looked around the shop. There were a number of holsters in plastic bags hung on hooks up on the walls, hard to see and only barely identified-" 5 rd. 2" barrel" and the like. I asked to see a couple, waited some more and finally noticed the 5 rd. 2" holster. It looked like an unmarked Gaylord, I told them I'd take it and looked more closely at the others.
Well, a long story made longer-here's what I ended up with. Not Gaylord, Seventrees as shown. The group:

The computer remained down, after an hour and a half we left but they called us before we got too far and we went back and picked up the model 67- a very nice one with an early stainless rear sight.
They have more holsters they'll dig out, I left my number.

Ken Null bought the Seventrees patterns. Here is a photo of
front and back of Ken's RSS (Revolver Super Speed) with my
S&W Model 10 2" barrel on board. Easy to see the lineage.

It's just registering that the pull-through IWB is missing its snaps; as you have it rigged in one pic I thot it to have snaps but be a thumb break. But no, classic pull-through but minus its snap assembly.

Ken Null is using the same motto on his website today.

Red, the ends are finished on that holster & I assumed this was the " special request cocked and locked pull through system ". I'm confident it never had snaps and think it was ordered and provided that way but that is assumption on my part. I don't think I've ever seen a UNS holster before.

I have a UNS, or rather what's left of it because dry rot caused the belt loop to tear loose as if it were made of cardboard. Yes, I see that the ends on yours are finished and there are no snaps in them. Attaching them is done as the very last step, even after finishing the leather, so they don't fail to close when the leather shrinks during wetting, dying, moulding, drying, etc. So: I believe the snaps were forgotten at the last moment, nearly 50 years ago.

Note that the holster was entirely completed, including the glossy finish, before the snap was attached. There is no pre-punched hole there -- the machine fires that half of the snap (called the button and socket) through the leather. What was/is done is to fold the strap over the mould that's in the holster, and press it against the other half of the snap that IS installed already -- the stud and eyelet -- which leaves a mark on the underside of the strap; which in turn tells the machine operator where to place the remaining half of the snap.

Now; I'm given to understand that at least one of your new collection is not maker-marked; that, the missing snaps on another, the double moulding on another -- perhaps these were not meant to leave the factory. Like a collectible postage stamp with some of the printing upside down, makes them ever more special.

Also: looking at my disassembled UNS, I see notations (mine) that none of it was glued at Paris' shop. Another indication that at least at this point, the Eastern School was on a different path from the Western School. We glue leather holsters not just to keep things in position; it makes the seams 'bulletproof' and -- prevents squeaking! Without glue the layers move across each other, and sometimes this 'squeaks'.
