I'm having trouble finding anything in a crossdraw holster for my M&P340. The holster I'm using now works but has a slight cant (canted the wrong way for crossdraw) and is the same one I always wore at 4 o'clock. Crossdraw does not seem to be very popular but I have recently discovered it works really well for me. With my J frame at least. With my Shield not so much.

exactly what you want. And there are several right now on ebay. Just

First off I would like to thank those who contacted me with a personal message to offer their services in constructing a custom fit holster. That may be the way I end up going eventually. First though I want to make sure that a crossdraw with the correct cant will make a difference. The holster I have now is an OWB Bianchi that I used to wear in the 4 o'clock position. When worn in a crossdraw position (actually the 11 o'clock position mol) it is actually pretty comfortable, conceals easily under my normal everyday clothing, is very easy to get to, I never have to worry about my clothing riding up and over it, and it's in a position where I can keep an eye on it. In this position it actually disappears under just a tee shirt. I just wonder if a holster with the correct cant will be even more comfortable. Maybe not, I don't know yet. I prefer an open top, open ended, black leather holster with a modest amount of cant. The ones I've seen on ebay all have either a snap retainer, are crossdraw for a lefty, have a huge forward cant, or are for large hunting pistols. If I can try carrying with a modestly priced holster and it works even better than what I have now then that will be the time to contact our more skilled members who work leather for a living (or extra cash).

You have asked a basic question for which the answer is more layered than the replies so far. That is, we cannot assume that a crossdraw will be canted reverse of a side draw. The basic spring crossdraw, for example, has long been a vertical; as a shoulder holster but mounted to the belt instead.

So: the verticals are meant to be carried at 9:00 on a righty. The tilted ones, such as the Rosen shown in another post, are meant to be carried at 10:00 and so lay the grip flat across the belly. Either way will keep the muzzle pointed relatively safely.

Your method, of carrying the FBI tilt as a crossdraw: understandably attractive because it conceals well. If you're then still able to cope with the somewhat unnatural twist to your wrist as you grasp and then draw, who then are we to say 'no'?

The only reason you might have to use a so-called 'custom' maker would be if the established makers don't have a fitment for that pistol. And I say that as a so-called custom maker myself :-). P'raps "niche maker" would be more appropriate for what we do?

Well I have found a holster I want to try. It's a Galco Hornet. Looked at one on the Midway site. It's designed to be carried between the 10 and 2 o'clock positions. It's worth a shot (no pun intended I think) anyway. I'll know right away if it will work and if not I can always return it to Midway for a refund. The Bianchi #57 I'm using now actually works really well and stays in nice and tight but has the FBI cant. I would like to try a straight or slightly reversed cant just to see if it works even better. It's actually pretty comfortable even when driving, it hides really well, and it's totally secure.
