When I'm not carrying one of my 1911 configurations, I will slip my 340PD in my pocket for a very light weight and inconspicuous carry. Because I'm into light, as in 340PD 11.4oz, I am always looking for a light holster as well.

I am very pleased to tell you I have found a very light and concealable pocket holster from Aholster.com. The holster weighs 1.5oz, and is made from extremely thin .060 Kydex. I've never been a big Kydex fan, but this one is so thin, light, and well designed that I adapted very well. As the attached video will show you it is not only concealable, but extremely fast to get into action, and can be carried all day comfortably in jeans, shorts, etc. By the way, Alan at Aholster.com is a pleasure to deal with, and was very helpful answering all questions. No doubt it seems to be light, compact and moisture resistant, I just question how comfortable it would be to have in pocket all day and if in fact it really stays put when Roscoe is drawn. I've been using a DeSantis Nemesis for 20 years now and never had any reason to try another brand or model so I've got no personal experience with the Kydex pocket holster you have. After you get 6 months or so experience with it, please do a follow up and let us know what you think. Thanks - hope it works well for ya!

I usually carry OWB at 4 o'clock. This summer, too hot for my usual vest, I decided to give pocket carry a go. I picked up an inexpensive Blackhawk to test the concept. It has worked okay, but if I continue to pocket carry I'm going to get a horsehide, as recommended by so many here.

The AHolster is interesting, but I must say the guy lost a bit of credibility with me when he said he doesn't recommend using a rubber grip, but that's what he used to show off his holster. Use what you recommend when you're promoting something! He also said he doesn't recommend a gun with an exposed hammer, but.... Just me.

Hey Bob, it's interesting you caught the bit about the rubber holster because that's the exact holster I pocket carry on my 340PD. I have tried nice Spegel wood grips, but with my hand configuration, and the kick of an 11.4oz jframe, I have found the Hogue Bantam to be the ideal grip for me.

Like I said, I'm not a kydex fan, but due to the light weight and very thin profile of this holster, it has been good for me so far.
