Default Any recommendations on a holster for H&K P7 (PSP)

Just scored a PSP this past week. Looking for a good IWB and OWB holster for this pistol. Any suggestions?

Good holsters for the PSP are hard to come by.Check out Don Hume holsters. Perhaps Andy Aratoonian, the best, makes one or two and Milt Sparks has one. Most will be for P7M8 and won't work for PSP. Good luck.

I may be mistaken, but I believe Mitch Rosen makes an IWB holster specifically for the P7, a variation on his ARG model. I don't have experience with his gear, but I've seen nothing but positive reviews.

ETA: I don't know the difference between a P7 and a PSP. My suggestion may or may not be worth looking into.

Why would one work for the M8 and not the PSP? Only difference is the mag release location, not enough to make a holster not work

Found this:
Concealed carry belt holster and accesories

Actually the trigger guard is different too due to the added heat shielding. This reduces the distance between the front of the trigger guard and the muzzle.

Go custom, far better than a large cookie cutter type holster company.

In addition to several custom makers on this forum, R. Grizzle, "country boy leather", makes fine holsters for this model.

The custom makers are a good idea, Perhaps Bianchi Frontier Gunleather and El Paso Saddlery might help you out.

I have Kramer 1 1/2 (IWB) for my P7M8. Great holster, very high quality but a little pricey. They do make it to fit the PSP.

Thanks! I had forgotten about Andy Arratoonian. I have always wanted one of his holsters. I now have one on order.

That’s probably the best PSP holster on the market.

I had a commercial PSP for almost 20 years, and the biggest challenge to holstering it was the gun’s balance - the slide is small and the grip frame is heavy, so improperly designed holsters beat against you when you walk. Andy’s won’t have that issue.

Correct. In most cases a holster made for the P7 M8 will accept the P7 PSP, but the reverse is not workable.

IIRC it was about 2009 when I received a spike of requests for holsters to fit the P7 PSP, which were arriving from HK as factory-inspected West German police trade-ins. I found an exceptionally nice one (95%, in box with spare mag, cleaning tools, manual) for $550. Used it to complete several dozen orders over a couple of years. Pistol then sat in my safe for 4 or 5 years with no orders coming in. When I retired in 2015 I found that the market had recovered from all those bargain police trade-ins and the P7 PSP was worth over $1200, making it a nice addition to my retirement account.

To the OP: The P7 series pistols pose some challenges for holster selection. Overall short length can require containing so much of the pistol within the holster for retention purposes that accessibility (specifically obtaining a solid grip with the grip-cocking mechanism) can be compromised. Weight distribution is heavily concentrated in the grip-frame, which makes some holster designs (particularly IWB-style) more or less unsuitable. Short version: great little pistols, but not the easiest to design a holster around, and what you think ought to work may not work at all.

Default IWB for P7 (PSP)

Here's what I use for my German Staple Gun. It's an IWB "TT" leather, and does a fine job.

I would totally agree with the above!!

NICE pistol!!! you will love it. I have had both the psp and the p7m8. the psp is now sold, but 3 p7m8's survived...That being stated. the best holsters I have found for both are the Milt Sparks and DelFatti. Sparks is about a four month turn around time. DelFatti is a 2 year wait time "on the wait list!!!" then you wait for him to make the holster!!!

If you check on certain auction sites you can occasionally find the above makers holsters for sale - at as premium...

Great firearm...Only drawbacks is that it can get "warm" around the trigger guard area and the magazine are expensive and somewhat scarce...Happy shooting!!

Thanks for the info. I got 4 factory mags with the pistol (so I guess I'm good to go), 2 brushes, scraper, and firing pin take down tool at a vey good price. Yeah, I know it gets hot, put 30 rounds through it and could feel it on my index finger. Very accurate, soft shooting, easy target acquisition. Really like this pistol.

It doesn't get hot unless you're trying to shoot mag after mag in rapid succession...........mine doesn't.

Kirkpatrick make P7 PSP specific holsters and Mitch Rosen makes holsters for the P7 series, doesn't spdcify PSP. The problem with the P7 is the short slide combined with the high and heavy grip, when in a holster.

He did. A right nice OWB for a P7 M8, which I wear about five days a week . . .

Here's my latest SnubbyFan acquisition . . .
