Default Roy's Leather Good Pancake Holster Question

I came across this Roy's Leather Goods Pancake holster for the 2" J frame that has the letters REJ stamped over the Roy's Leather Goods makers mark. At first I thought it might be a prior owners initials but the holster looks new unused and the letters are stamped with the same size font and depth as the 36 stamped in the holster by Roy's Leather Goods. Has anyone seen the REJ stamp on a Roy's holster before? Thank you

As I recall, when I was buying Baker holsters you could get a Reject for a few bucks less.

Reject stamp. I have had a few of these but could find nothing wrong with them. They may have been rejected due to off-color leather or something inconsequential like that.

Ok, thanks ken158 I was wondering if it stood for a reject. Any recollection of what would have qualified it as a sellable reject?

How interesting. To each his own: Bianchi scored through its name on the item to indicate to the factory that it had not passed its QC inspection in the first place, if the item was returned. To date I have not seen on eBay, for example.

Really, the reason a holster ends up so-marked, is that thhe defect wasn't picked up soon enough in the production process to just put a knife blade through it. A company doesn't "make" rejects. So, fit, form, function are acceptable, but a cosmetic flaw such as a skipped stitch or a knife cut. But otherwise virtually complete.

Of course, coupled with a desire to make one more buck. Mine simply never make it off my bench. A real company tries to recoup whatever it can :-) but to be fair, in the olden days at Bianchi we were merciless about the quality of our 'firsts' so trouble was picked out early.

I have a Roy's original pancake made for a k model. It has a 35 stamped on it might be for a 3" or 4" s&w looks like an he stamp after the 35 at the very bottom. I'm guessing your holster is for a 2" s&w detective special. I'll post more if I locate yours while hunting for mine. Thanks kenforgood54

Reject or not you still have a good holster there! I recently picked up two used but near new condition Roy's Leather Goods Pancake holster's and was real pleased to find them. One for a four inch K frame and one for a six inch N frame. The only hitch is they are both in black basket weave. I much prefer russet brown, but I will learn to like black. Enjoy yours!
