Holster Help
Recently purchased a Model 64 2". Would like to carry it as a part time concealed carry piece.
I'm kind of embarrassed as I have carried a firearm for government agencies from 1965 to 2003. Never carried a K frame two inch before. I tried a Georgia Snap 2, made by a custom maker but the snaps on the holster kept popping loose while entering or exiting a vehicle. Great holster except for that.
Found an old Roy Baker Pancake rig for a Model 19 snubbie but even with a heavy 1.5 " gun belt the holster lacks rigidity to keep the weapon close to the body. Worth a try but no cigar.
Ordered a Bianchi Black Widow but not in stock for left hand. Bummer, have worn at least a cowhide worth of Bianchi gear in the last 40 years.
I'm left handed and I want a holster that holds the weapon close to the body and high ride. Want the weapon to ride "tight in the rig" without wobble or shifting. Bobbed hammer!
Thumb break option ok! Finding it hard to locate good revolver holsters for concealment.
How have you solved the dilemma?
Thanks
Tom

I really like Lobo Gun Leather holsters. I use their IWB styles, but they make Belt holsters too. Will take a few weeks, but the customer service is great. They should be able to make up what you want

Oh, also, Simply Ruger makes a good belt holster. Pancake style.

I am quite happy with my Kramer horsehide belt Scabbard...You might check out their website and see if it meets you expectations and requirements.

Hi Tom. Have you considered Bianchi's 5BH. It is made in left hand. I
believe I saw it on Optics Planet.
Almost 10 years ago I read an article telling about federal narc agents
being issued S&W M&P 2" revolvers, with Bianchi holsters and belts.
I asked John Bianchi what the holster model was.
He said "5B High Ride, thumbsnap style, has been in
continuous productior 40 years, currently in Bianchi 08' catalog."
You would want Bianchi 5BH or 5BHL (lined) LH Size 05.
Here's a photo of mine:

Tom, have you tried replacing the snaps on your holster with pull-the-dot snaps? They only open when deliberately pulled in a specific direction and shouldn't open when entering or exiting a vehicle. If you'll send me the holster I replace the snaps free of charge if you'll pay for shipping.

You might take a look at the Lobo Gun Leather Enhanced Pancake model.
I have one for my 640 PRO and it sounds like it would fit your bill. I have several of their rigs (from both old and new owners) and have been pleased.

Thanks everyone for your input, lots of knowledge and wisdom that is free for the tapping on this board.
Triggernosis, The snaps on the GS 2 are directional but the tabs they are embedded in point down so you pull up to release the snaps and that's the hangup on my vehicle seats.
CrazyPhil, thanks for the input hope you have fully recovered from your earlier health issue. The 5B has crossed my mind, thanks for the insight. The 5 was my first privately purchased police rig in 1972.
Lots to look at and consider, appreciate the responses to all of you!

Holster Help
You might look at a Don Hume JIT Slide. I carry my S&W Models 12-2 2 inch and 13-3 3 inch in one, and they are made left and right handed. Open-topped and not very expensive, I have 3 of them!

I have a snub Python that I carry, which is almost the same frame size. It sounds like you want to carry concealed OWB. That is also how I carry.
My future holster will be either a Lobo, Galco, or Desantis. The ones that give a high ride, slight forward cant, and pull the piece in close to the body. Like Lobo's model 1 pancake or Galco's combat master. I think Desantis has a similar one.
I'm leaning toward the Lobo with inside hammer shield and maybe the retention snap, unless the holster really secures my gun without the snap, but I can't risk it coming loose and falling out. I also like when a holster covers the entire triggerguard and most of the rear frame to protect the finish more.
Pretty sure Lobo makes them "to order", and their prices aren't bad, like under $100 for what I'm interested in.

You might want to check out Side Guard Holsters. While I haven't used their OWB holsters, and they do have pancake style holsters, I've used one of their IWB holsters nearly every day for the past 6 years or so and it's still going strong. And they're relatively inexpensive, too. My holster was $55, and I'm pretty sure their OWB holsters are in the same price neighborhood. Wait time can be long, though. The last I heard they were running around 12 weeks. Unless you absolutely need a holster now, I consider their holsters worth the wait.
FWIW, when I had a 2" 64 I often carried it in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II IWB holster meant for a 3" 65 and it worked well for me.

Keep in mind that El Paso's Model 2 is the virtual duplicate of Safariland's old Model 29. I have both, although not for a snub .38.
Ken Null could also probably fix you up with a version of his Gaylord-like speed scabbard. I think either will make you a left hand holster.
I'd also get an inside waistband holster. The old Gaylord style is good if you can get one made, and for price and simplicity, the Bianchi Model 6 (?) is about right. I've used it only with J-frame guns, but I think they make it for K-frames.

I'm carrying IWB currently in a Bianchi 3S Pistol Pocket for a K frame and the gun carries well, but I'm looking for an OWB. I've kinda narrowed it down to a Don Hume JIT or a Bianchi Black Widow.
Love the old Pocket Pistol as I have had it for nigh onto 30 years. My "thank yous" to Red Nichols for such an innovative and versatile holster.

My 4' 686 rides great in a Galco left hand. Not lined but high quality.
