Default I RESCUED A BELT

I was surfing on the bay and came across a "genuine leather
belt" with brass buckle, keeper, and tip. Just my size. I'm a
sucker for a bargain and this deal was only $5.79 with Free
Shipping.

I could see that both the leather and the hardware were quite dirty.
The brass was pitiful. I wish I had taken a before photo.

The hardware is heavy nickle coated brass. I like that Eagle
on the buckle.

I gave both the leather and the hardware a good bath and
scrubbing with Dawn dishwasher soap & hot water.
Then I polished the brass with Brasso and treated the leather
with Black Rock Good 'Rich.

I think it turned out quite well. Only problem is I can't get
that big tip through the loop on this Brill.

I would say that you did rather well for under $6.00. I like it.

UPDATE: I took the hardware off and put it on the $30 gun belt.
I put the Brill on the belt before I put the tip on, so the Brill is there
to stay for a while. I think the $30 gun belt will carry the weight of
the model 10 a little better than the one that came with the hardware.

Here's a photo:

Neither looks like a very solid gun belt. The Brill holster deserves better.

Check with El Paso Saddlery or Lobo Leather, etc. and get a real gun carrying belt.

My son found a nice Galco Online for about $60, retails for about $100. Guess it didn't fit whoever originally bought it. Does fit me.

Don't let the price of the Thirty Dollar Gun Belt fool you. It is a
"very solid gun belt." Not just me saying so. Quite a few others
on this forum have tried it and agree.

It's not a question of what the Brill holster deserves. It has a narrow
and very tight belt tunnel. With a lot of pushing and tugging a very
thin 1.5" belt will go through. That is why I bought the 1.25" Thirty
Dollar belt. It is 1/4" thick and it works.

I doubt the $60 Galco is any better than the $30 gun belt.

Now all you need is to get invited to a BBQ!

Have a blessed day,

Better get the right brand, Phil, or you won't fit in
