Bucheimer and Bucheimer-Clark both made authentic Tom
Threeperson's holsters. My Bucheimer-Clark thread featured
the Rebel, that Red Nichols said was more like Threeperson's
personal holster than any other makers. The Rebel is shown
below, on the left, to compare with the Bucheimer Federal Man,
which is on the right.
How are they alike? Both holsters are authentic Tom
Threeperson's holsters, based on criteria outlined by Red
Nichols. The free edges on both are joined by substantial
welts for the trigger guard to rest upon. The muzzles are
closed with the welts extending to the front sights. The
triggers and guards are fully exposed. The belt loops are
folded from the holsters body.
How are they different? The Rebel rides low on the hip, with
a tie-down thong, and open top. The Federal Man is a high
ride with a retention strap and thumb break, with the lower
part of the strap sewn to the holster body.
Both the Bucheimer-Clark Rebel, model 98, and the Bucheimer
Federal Man, model 570, were made for Single Action Colts with
5.5" barrels, as was Tom Threeperson's original. Just like Tom's,
mine is carrying a Colt with a 4.75" barrel. Difference is mine is
a replica. Tom's was not.
