Will Mitch Rosen 5JR fit S&W 640 Pro
Will a Mitch Rosen 5JR or 5JR-EXP on the belt holster fit a S&W 640 Pro? I called the Company and was told the holsters will not accommodate the S&W 640 Pro but will accommodate J frames and the 642.
Anyone have one of theses holsters for their S&W 640 Pro and if so how is it working for you?
Thanks

Just a guess, but the sights on the 640 Pro are probably what would keep it from fitting well in a holster made for a J frame of standard configuration.

I’d take Mitch Rosen’s word for it.
I have two 5JRs, one for an M65 and the other for a Colt DS. Very close, good fit.

Not only are the sights a problem on a well molded J frame holster for the M640 Pro but the barrel of the Pro is 2 1/8", a 1/4" longer than most J frame revolvers. That is enough to prevent the Pro version from fully seating in some holsters.

As an owner of a 640 Pro and a 5JR for a standard J frame 2" . Rosen is one of the best holstermakers, period. In the top 5 in my book. He is right your 640 Pro will not fit well, and you will be disappointed. The leather is very tightly "boned" and form fitted, no slop for the 640 Pro sights to fit.

5JR is a model name, not a size. I have a 5JR for a SIG P220.
The ones I have seen, including this one, are stamped on the
back with the gun they were made to fit.

True, Phil, but he does not make 5JRs for any model you may want.
E.g., in addition to the two I have, mentioned above, I asked him for one for a 4” Colt Trooper. (While I actually wanted it for a Colt .357, I knew a holster made for Trooper would fit.) Answer was they do not make a 5JR for the Colt Trooper.
