HOLSTER MAKER PASSES AWAY
Ben Wetzel, age 77, passed away this past Saturday 12/17.
Royal Eubanks conceived and started Eubanks Leather in Boise
between 1937 & 1939. Sold to Pioneer Tent & Awning in 1949
with a 5 year agreement to not compete. Eubanks Pioneer
Leather was the maker mark on the holsters.
In 1954, upon expiration of the non-compete agreement, Royal
Eubanks started Idaho Leather, but died shortly thereafter.
Eubanks widow sold the business to a family friend Bud Wetzel.
Idaho Leather is still in the location Eubanks started in with
much of the same equipment. It was operated by Ben Wetzel,
Bud's son, until his death last Saturday.

I conversed with Ben several times thru the years and he was quite the gentleman. I have purchased seven or eight of his holsters, for both myself and son. Great, old time quality.

Sorry I don't have any but go to Idaho Leather Holster on the
auction site. I think they have some. I had a shoulder holster
for a Walther PPK but I sold it along with the gun.

Here is an Idaho Leather holster. I don't know if it was made
by Bud or Ben Wetzel, or perhaps Royal Eubanks before he
passed. It was made for a Ruger, but fits the 1911 ok.
