Default JP's Custom Kydex The Nomad AIWB holster

Well, after buying a new Beretta Nano late last summer (at a final cost of $199.99 - such a deal!), I finally broke down and bought a holster made for it. I've found the Nano is super-easy for me to shoot well (despite its awkward feel and marginally terrible trigger) and it's been (knock wood) completely reliable for me. I've been carrying it a lot AIWB in a #4ART Remora and sometimes in my Pistol Wear Trump Card thing. A couple times in a pocket, but the gripframe is a little long for that.

Anyhow, it occurred to me that I like this thing a lot and use it in preference to my Glock 43 (which doesn't point as well for me or shoot as accurately for me, despite having a far superior and shorter trigger - but which is longer than the Nano in a way that makes it want to move when I sit down with the gun AIWB), and that my only real beef with it is the Remora sometimes moves around enough that it needs to be repositioned. No complaint against the Remora, especially since I just grabbed one I had around as a spare to shove in the Nano, which I really only got as sort of a lark. But since I have come to like the thing so much and since I actually prefer it for most carry, I thought why not actually buy a holster made for the Nano?

I have been doing this long enough to know what I like - a deep-seated, vertical draw AIWB kydex rig that's rounded enough to not pinch and that allows tucking, preferably with enough of an offset of the clip that the thing doesn't print excessively and I can maneuver it around my front belt loops. And, like the guy in the Eighties Meineke commercial, "I'm not gonna pay a lot for this Kydex!" (I've paid a lot before, and am aware that there are inexpensive makes that work just as well.) Also, I wanted the sucker fast - none of this "We have to hunt the mighty Kydex that will provide the skin for your holster, then painstakingly cure it for weeks, then allow our artisans to reflect upon the individual pelt for several weeks until the Muse speaks to him - expect your holster in two months" bull****.

So, I'm a researcher - apply Google-fu! A few searches and I found JP's Custom Kydex [ JP's Custom Kydex/Superior Holsters/EDC Gear ] which had a tuckable AIWB holster called The Nomad. The price was right: $39.99 with $4.00 delivery - and you even got to pick the color kydex used (several colors were no upcharge). The Nomad looked to be exactly what I wanted for the Nano, JP's was ready to make it for the Nano, and they were advertising 5-7 days lead time to make the holster.

They lied.

I ordered my Storm Gray (no upcharge!) holster on Monday, May 14th. It was shipped out on Thursday, May 17th. I had it in my sweaty paws on Saturday, May 19th. Awesome.

I grabbed the Nano out of the safe and clicked it in. Yup. Fit great.

Clipped it into my shorts. Great - the deep ride that I was seeking. No problem with the draw - I'm used to this low ride and able to do just what I want with it (but you can adjust it upward if desired).

One of the things I noticed immediately was how the clip has a little lever/protuberance that facilitates removal - very nice and not something I have on other kydex rigs.

The thing is tuckable, of course, but the clip rides low and doesn't protrude enough to print.

It's well rounded on the edges (even though the muzzle protrudes - funny how it works so well) and does not pinch at all.

I put it on and ran errands - it's working exactly as I'd hoped, and holding the gun so I don't even have to think about it. I am planning on going for a clamber up the foothills boulders in a while and then doing some yardwork - I anticipate no problems from the JP's Custom Kydex The Nomad, but will report back if I have any.

Anyhow, thanks to JP - I'd buy from him again in a heartbeat.
