Inside the waistband holster question.

I'm looking for an inside the waistband holster for my 66-8, with a 2 3/4" barrel. Any recommendations that you guys have, would be appreciated. Haven't carried IWB in several years.

I like the Milt Sparks Watch Six. Flat, stable holster that I wear in the 4 o-clock position. They don't list it on their website for revolvers but make it just the same.
I emailed and got mine in about two months.

The Watch Six is a lot like the VMII except no reinforced mouth band.
I had one I gave to my grandson along with a CZ75. The VMII would
also be a good choice.

You might look at AKJ - Concealco. I hear they are back in business.

The possible benefits of a widebody are overstated tho Seventrees introduced it '60s. Better for the task is the narrow body best represented by Sparks Summer Spl. and Bianchi Pistol Pocket.

I've carried a 2" 64 and a 3" 65 in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II with good results.

I currently carry my 642 in a Side Guard Holsters Quick Clip IWB holster. It does an excellent job. He has other IWB holsters that might suit a K-frame snub that might be worth checking out. His prices are very reasonable, but delivery times can be somewhat lengthy. Last I heard it was about 12 weeks.

I've also carried K-frame and J-frame snubs in wide-body, VMII-style holsters, and have come to prefer the smaller footprint of the SSII-style holsters for IWB carry. Finding a holster with an offset belt attachment (loops or clip) can help in comfort and concealment.

I would also suggest looking for an IWB holster that carries the cylinder about even with the belt. It may seem counterintuitive to have the bulkiest part of the gun directly under the belt, but in my experience it does a good job keeping the gun stable, especially with a short barrel.

I use a TT Gunleather KX Lightweight and a TT Gunleather IWB with snap loops for my 66-8. Will post pics later.

Can't go wrong with any of the holsters from Milt Sparks or Kramer's #3 horsehide IWB.

I'm not one to argue with a man whose knowledge outpaces my own on the topic, but I have found when carrying a revolver IWB, the narrow-bodied holsters (like Summer Special) provide a hot spot for me on my bony butt, and are thicker (body to belt) than the wide platform holsters I have grown to prefer.
I used a Galco Summer Comfort for a few years with the Sig 220 I carried then (before I discovered S&W) and bought a Watch Six for it and never looked back. I think your recommendation is a good one, but not necessarily for all body types.

I have this same one for the SP101. Works beautifully for both my CA Bulldog 44spl and my S&W M65-5 3".

I especially like the way the belt is routed around the topstrap to go through the front loop. The design helps to "twist" the butt of the revolver in towards your body for better concealment.

This doesn't answer the exact question you asked, and I certainly won't be insulted if you simply ignore my post, but there is some possibility that there is no IWB holster that will work as well as, say, a good pancake by O'Rourke or Lobo or one of many others.

I happen to like IWB very much, for slabside pistols, and consider the Bruce Nelson/Milt Sparks Summer Special to be ideal. However, revolvers are a whole nother story. While I did carry a 2.5" M19 for a number of years in a Bianchi Pistol Pocket, by and large I have NOT been impressed with IWB for revolvers. I own quite a few Summer Specials for J, K & N revolvers, all in virtually new condition. Without digging into my several holster boxes, I believe that O'Rourke, DeSantis and Galco pancakes are the ones that have actually been used for all three frame sizes.

What works best for you will probably depend mostly on body shape and maybe almost as much on what size pants you are willing to buy. I would just like to suggest to you the possibility (fact, for me) that with revolvers IWB may not be the way to go.

I’m a minimalist when it comes to IWB holsters. I hate wearing a belt, so the Kydex dinner plates with multiple belt attachments are out.

I like the Galco Stow n Go, and have also had good luck with Barsony and Bianchi. The main qualification is a strong belt clip.

Superb comments and I will add, that as a (former) skinny guy, I wore a CA .44 Bulldog in a Pistol Pocket so that it wouldn't show under a suit jacket over a bony frame.

Yup, IWB is also over-sold and the best of the pancakes will usually trump them all; that said, the avenger style (which I don't make for revolvers) is my best-seller.
