Default ankle holster

Looking for a good ankle holster to carry my 2" 637-2 Airweight or 36-1 3" revolver in. Leaning toward the Uncle Mike's nylon model, don't need anything very expensive. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Sorry that I can not help you with cheap

I tried many in my youth, but settled on the Galco Angle Glove in 1980. I have been using the same J-frame Ankle glove since that time.

In-fact I used it so much that the Factory had to stitch a new piece of velcro to it about 15 years ago.

I have a couple of other Ankle Gloves that get used infrequently for different firearms

You only buy a good holster once.

Carried a variety of them over a 30 year career. Started with Bianchi, Uncle Mikes, Desantis and Fobus. Fobus was the lightest, most comfortable and more importantly the most secure in my experience.

I've been using an Alessi ankle holster for over twenty years without complaint. Uncle Mike's are junk. Buy once, cry once.

I have DeSantis and Galco holsters but the neoprene really bothers me. It gets hot and irritates my skin.

I've seen DeSantis with a leather strap instead of neoprene. I'm not sure if they are still being made but I'd rather try one of those.

Ditto, GAG & J-Frame best combo on-ankle ever, with Desantis Die-Hard a close second.

I used the Uncle Mike nylon ankle holster when I carried a M60 as a backup and I really liked it. It was low profile and very secure. Not saying there aren't other options that might be better for you.

I have used a Renegade Cozy Partner ankle holster for about seven years. It carries my Model 340PD very well, distributing the revolver's weight and limiting movement when walking.

I would second the Alessi!

Had one for a Glock 26 that I gave to a former co-worker when I went with one for my 642/442. Both are still usable with only a velcro replacement on the Glock one a couple years ago.

Mine were built when Lou Alessi was still alive and you called in and spoke to him when you ordered.

Would hope the current quality is as good but don't know.

I like this DeSantis Apache. Don't wear it often, but when I do the
shearling makes it very comfy.

I used the Galco Ankle Glove for carrying my BUG on duty for about 17-18 years. It was comfortable and very secure. It stayed with me through fights, chases, jumping fences and various other fun activities during that time. I rarely ever used it off duty as I prefer my primary gun to be more accessible (strongside IWB/OWB carry).

I'm not a huge ankle holster user or aficionado; but, I like having one available as an option. I've tried several and someone recommended the Sticky Holsters Ankle Biter. I was surprised at how firmly it held both the weapon and itself in place.

When I first started carrying (1979) I had Mr. Bruce Nelson (deceased) make me a custom made Ankle Rig that I used for about 5 years. It was comfortable and retained the gun well, but after accidentally stepping into a deep puddle while exiting my vehicle one day, I decided it was a bad idea. That was the last time I used it - although I still have it somewhere.

Ankle Carry is not only a bit awkward, but the gun is usually slow to be brought into action - except maybe when seated in a vehicle.

After Ankle carry I went to IWB and OWB and then discovered Pocket Carry. Today I Pocket Carry 60% of the time and use an OWB holster the other 40%. Haven't IWB carried much lately since my Jeans "shrunk" - lol!

ADDED:I dug out my Ankle Holster this afternoon and here it is.......

Here are some pictures of my Bruce Nelson Custom Ankle Holster that I do no use any longer. It has surgical grade Suede lining and foam padding underneath to make it very comfortable. It came with excellent quality Velcro and has a Brass pull-through top snap that retains a J Frame.

I'm not "officially" selling it, but if anyone is interested send me a PM. Since Bruce Nelson is no longer with us, there will be no more made exactly like this quality piece! He was a master holster maker IMO.

I have a 637-2 in an Uncle Mikes ankle holster on me right now. Not best, not the most expensive and it will not last forever, but it does work.
