OK Chubbo,

The Colt is a 1957 Government with a hammer from one of the WW1 commemorative models. The handles are from Nutmeg.

The S&W is a 1963 K22, it's handles are old ivory.

The Lawrence 120 "Keith" is kinda purdy in it's simplicity. I tried to
enhance it a bit with the Navajo silver arrowhead. The Red Nichol's
Ranger belt helps too. Peacemaker replica. I keep thinking about
getting a real one, but when I look at the prices I just keep thinking.
Sharps Bowie hiding in upper left corner, and my Stetson of course.

Here's a nice barbecue rig made by Dave Keith, complete with our family brand on the holster.

Nothing fancy here, but a good serviceable rig by Rudy Lozano of Black Hills Leather

Again, not a fancy rig, but one that has seen many, many miles on horseback made by Dave Clowes of Dave's Saddle & Tack out of Bonanza, Oregon.

Another plain, but serviceable, rig from Black Hills Leather.

Sorry Chubbo,

The 1911 holster is supposed to be Myers, but there is no makers mark. I once saw a Lawrence holster that looked very similar.

The S&W holster is a Lawrence and is marked 27LF and 44 over 6 on the back. It was sold to me as a K holster, but as one would suspect it also fits a 6" N frame as well.

If I had to pick just one from my collection I would pick the Heiser #753 double buscadero. The condition is wonderful and I believe it is museum quality. Bill

The S&W, I would have guessed right. By my old favorite vintage maker, Lawrence. I wouldn't venture a guess on the 1911 holster, I am not familiar with unmarked Lawrence holsters, and my very limited Lawrence reference material shows nothing like it. Regardless of the maker, I'm sure it's by a vintage maker, and a real "Knock Out". It just"Makes My Liver quiver". Thanks for sharing them with us.

It has my S&W Model 57 41 Mag. in it.

This S&W 38/44 Heavy Duty 5" from 1931 looks great in this old Carved S. D. MYRES Holster. The strap was replaced by a Heiser Denver one some time in its life.

My best is this BEDELL ROGERS holster from Longview, Texas I feel lucky to have won it at the S&WCA Symposium auction because most of the bidders thought it was for a Colt.

Just got this one in yesterday. I don't recall seeing a carved Eubanks
before, and black is kinda rare too. (Maybe it was dyed?) Anyhow I
think it's kinda beautiful. Belt is by Sparks, Knife is a Case.
PS you can click on the image once or twice to enlarge it.

I have this Carved and Laced Holster by COLORADO SADDLERY of DENVER it is marked by pencil? Mag 6 1/2 and is stamped with the numbers 1952 or possibly 1932.
It looks good on my pre 27 .357 Mag 6 1/2" that left the factory 9/55.

bracebeemer;

Since this thread truly fascinates me, I often go through the pictures of the holster beauty contest, study, and enjoy them. After looking closely at this truly beautiful, two holster rig, that you show, It becomes apparent that the holsters are of different sizes, the tooling was done with that in mind, and the maker intended for the rig to be set up exactly that way. I believe that there could be a very interesting story, involving the design, and building of this rig. Were my observations correct? Is there a story about it's build? Am I full of bologna? If I'm correct, I'd like to hear that story.

As a cop I always appreciated the basketweave because that’s what I grew up with and carried. Similarly, I never cared for the flowery, carved holsters because it reminded me of the goofy holsters that came with my chrome, cowboy cap gun rig. They just didn’t give me the macho look I was after.

That said, I really like the few pancake holsters trimmed with exotic skin I’ve got from Paul at Warbird Leather.

Jim;

In looking at the pictures that you posted of your 1931 S&W 38/44 Heavy Duty, and S. D. Myres holster, it occurred to me that my 1930 S&W 38/44 Heavy Duty, is very similar to yours. I don't know how close their shipping dates were, but the must have been close. my HD's shipping date was 4/26/1930. It's ser.# is 3529x. you mentioned that the S. D. MYRES holster, shown with your HD, had the strap replaced at some time with a Heiser Denver strap. There are other possible sources of the replacement strap, as I have holsters by Hunter, and Colorado Saddlery, that have identical snaps, and straps. I thought that might interest you. Here are Pictures of mine. Thanks for sharing with us.

'64 Colt Trooper, maker of the holster unknown. I bought the hoster, after haggling it down to $25, in a tourist district, La Villita, in San Antonio, Tx

Hi Chubbo,
My ship date was 8/1931 and serial 3877X. Just a year and 4 months newer than yours.

Real carved leather has a look that is really classic even though it is not put together by a "CLASSIC Holster Company." Here is a Bucheimer carved holster that I let go of several years ago.

Default HOLSTERS

Man, sure some fine looking holsters shown here. Thought I would join in with a couple I have.

This shoulder rig is from El Paso for my 1945 K-22.

A belt rig from El Paso as well:

This one from Colorado Saddlery, I believe early 50's:

Made for me, for a little Browning .22 By LOBO LEATHER some time back.

S. D. Myres concealment holster with "dog ear" I liberated recently,
cleaned it up and shined it. I think it's kind of a pretty little thing.

Click on the photo once or twice to enlarge it.

Here is the Heiser #753 holster and #45 belt. This was the most expensive catalog holster and belt offered by H.H. Heiser. If you walked into Heiser in Denver in 1936 you would have to pony up nearly the equivalent of $1000 in today’s money for this rig. She’s a beauty! Bill

I have one of those, too! I bought mine, because at first glance it is the most like Tom Threepersons' original than any other maker's, since his time. I especially got a kick out of the Bucheimer having a leg thong purposefully attached, as did Tom's original:

tom left bucheimer-clark right (1).jpg

tom left bucheimer-clark right (3).jpg

tom left bucheimer-clark right (5).jpg

Much has been said over the last 100 years about Tom's own holster, none of it really correct. Note, for example, it is the spare holster it was said to be but does not ride 'high with the grip pitched forward to a marked degree'. His is relatively low by today's standards and is angled just a few degrees 'positive' (rear sight ahead of the front sight). It was the Myres design that was named for him, that was high riding and carried at about a 25 degree positive angle.

Images of Tom tell us he carried his revolver on a wide cartridge belt, and low on his hip. So, not concealed, he shifted the belt lower until the grip of the pistol was just where his hand would fall to it. It was the Texas Rangers who were required to conceal their pistols, so favored the Brill that was developed just for that, and just for them.

The clearance in Tom's holster, at the rear sight, is not 'factory': he has cut it away with a pen knife, I'd say, well into the carving. My deduction is that he did it to prevent the rear sight from snagging when he holstered (look carefully, my dummy gun has had its topstrap cut away like his own Colt, for a better/different sight picture on his. His front sight was also reduced in profile and in height. See all his guns including this one, in Holstory's centerfold section.)

Thumbs up ANOTHER HOLSTER

This Heiser, with the markings on the back would seem to date from 1905 to 1925. Pretty good shape to say the least. Not sure what gun it was supposed to fit, number on back is 719. Something in the 4" flavor, probably a Colt but I have coming a 1919 S&W 38 which I am hoping will be a good fit.

J. R. WEEMS;

Looking at that beautiful holster, and judging by the size of the edge lacing, I bet it will turn out to fit a Mod. 34, 4".

Pretty good shape is an understatement, especially for a pre WW II holster.
Dating holsters is an inexact exercise but the model number 719 wasn’t used by Heiser until about 1920. The Heiser stamps do not allow for precise dating, there are post-war holsters with supposed pre-war stamps. The snap on your holster is the best clue- Heiser stopped using them in the late 1930’s or very early 1940’s, the brown enamel Heiser Denver marked snaps are mid to late 1940’s & later as shown by dated catalog illustrations.
I’ll agree with Chubbo, that looks like it might fit a smaller frame revolver. Let us know what you find out.
Regards,
turnerriver
