Late 1930's-40's police duty holster
I'm interested in locating a period correct holster for my KCPD pre-war .357 4". Looking for some info on what should I be looking for.

Not simple but of course can be done. At that moment it was Clark, Hoyt, Bucheimer, Lawrence, Heiser, Myres, Audley. Audley is the easiest to get 'right' followed by Myres; Clark and Hoyt were most common in CA. Hybrid company Bucheimer-Clark did not yet exist.
The hard part is the style. Although swivel holsters were popular then they were generally used for the 6" barrels. A Myres' Border Patrol No. 5 is the easiest choice, any Audley marked Folsom Arms (Audley himself was long dead by the '40s) but largely an Eastern supplier. Texas (Myres) is positioned just right for you :-)

Don't know what kind of quanity they purchased but some of the KCPD guns had tan S.D.Myres holsters with them that were stamped on the reverse K.C.P.D.

SRG, I suggest a google for "1930s police officers" (or 1940s) and check out the "images" section.
Then hit eBay, search "vintage holsters" and see what comes along that's similar.

If you look for a Myres Border Patrol, choose the #5 or Askins style as
shown below on the left. Do not choose the Jordan style. It came along
later, and is shown on the right.
The easy way to tell the difference is to look at the trigger guard.

A Myres rig
This is for a K frame, but you get the idea....
I found this one on Ebay....it was very affordable, and it fits

I think I read some where , and I can not find the source in my books, that KCPD changed uniforms and leather to brown to further distance the then current department from earlier corrupt
era.
This is form KCPD history book 1874 to 2011.
Hard to tell but looks like a swivel holster ??.
KCPD sourced many things locally including badges so leather might have been locally made.
As aside note this is the shooting badges shown on the uniform coat.
