O. Ball holster
I finally found one and bought it before everyone else saw it.

Very nicely made piece. Basically a Threepersons-style scabbard holster modified to include exterior hammer shield as popularized by the designs of Hank Sloan. Very popular from about 1960 to 1980 or so. Many makers produced similar holsters. Carving appears to be well done. Nice find.

O. Ball, if I recall correctly, was a police firearms instructor with Fort Worth P.D. in the '60's. He started making holsters and I purchased one shortly after I stared my LEO career.

Oliver was a Lt. Homicide Detective on the Ft. Worth PD from
1940-1976. He passed away in 1983. He made holsters for
graduates from the police academy and many Texas law
enforcement officers. Although not well known outside of
Texas, his leather work was right up there with the best. IMHO
Here is my one and only O. Ball:

I have an Oliver Ball holster myself. In fact I bought the thing and did not have the gun that fit in it...…. so, I just had to go find the thing that would fit.

A perfectly logical solution.
