EUBANKS HOLSTER WITH PHOTOS
I just snagged another Eubanks (Like I need another one).
But this one is black and I don't have a black one. It is also
floral carved and laced, and I don't have a carved Eubanks.
Made by Royal Eubanks sometime between 1939 and 1949.
Made for a M&P (K Frame) with a 4" barrel. IMHO Royal's
work was equal to Heiser and/or Lawrence. Frosting on the
cake: Under sixty bucks shipped. Supposed to arrive Saturday.
I'll clean it up and add some photos here.
The holster arrived a couple of days early. Pretty clean so I
just wiped it of and polished it a little bit. Here are the photos,
left to right:
Front of holster. Straps are not as brown as they look in the
picture. Maybe they were dyed black and the brown comes
through for the camera?
Back of holster. K 38 87 4 Eubanks Leather Boise, Idaho
Holster on Sparks gunbelt with my model 10 with 4" barrel.
Knife is a Case.

Glad you like the look. I think I can live with it too.

Lucky or crazy? :-) The straps have obviously been replaced (notice the new rivets on the backside) and the holster was originally black (else how did the rawhide stay white?).

So do you think they replaced the straps with brown but dyed
them?

Yup. I'd expect that the finish already on the brown straps then resisted the penetration of the black dye and left you with a brown/black. If you want to fix that, do what holster makers do anyway on dyed-black holsters (because it soaks in irregularly and leaves spots): attend your local shoe shop and buy black lacquer leather spray, mask the lacing (just push a fold of cardboard under the strap) and this spray will actually color the leather black.

I have one that came with the gun I bought in 1967. It is my favorite holster.
