Default Tayra holster

A recent find that may prove interesting to others. A Tayra Corporation holster that fits a 4 inch K frame. The bulk of the holster is a black soft polymer-rubbery- composition with the belt tunnel/adjuster in hard polymer-plastic. The belt tunnel is finely adjustable to width by a spring loaded pinch activated toothed lock system. The revolver frame sits back in the holster body with the ejector rod nestled into a grooved cutout under the exposed barrel. The thumb break snaps very snuggly around the hammer and appears to retain the weapon pretty firmly. The draw is slightly up and forward and would seem with practice to be very quick.
I googled the patent number found on the back of the holster and found that it goes back to March 1965 and was issued to a Frederick "Fred" "Bud" Marburger , a retired lieutenant with the Canton Ohio Police Department. He appears to have died in 2009. I can find no additional info on the corporation.

I can add this for you, from 1971:

1971 tayra (1).jpg

A 2" version was made for Colt to re-sell through its catalogue. They pop up on eBay from time to time.

Tayra is an omnivorous weasel like mammal native to Central America. Part of the genus species name means "strange". The inventor, I have found, was apparently regarded as something of a well read and eclectic fellow. Thank you for the reply Mr. Nichols,- another of the hundreds of points of enlightenment I have gleaned from you.
