Default New Lobo holster

Gentlemen:
Wanted to post a couple of photos of an Enhanced Pancake holster I just received from Lobo for my Model 13. The holster is very well done in design and finish. Took about 5 weeks from order to receipt. First-class operation and product. Thank you, Lobo.

Flawlessly designed, handsomely made. Everything is 'just right'; cylinder positions on your torso ideally, backside hammer guard a natural vs on the outside, stitchlines placed exactly where they should be, sculpting of the mouth is right on the money, color and finish just right, well-executed hand moulding.

Well done to you and to Lobo :-).

P.S. automatics, especially the 'hammerless' variety, having become so prevalent there are few users today who realise that sharp hammer spurs on DA revolvers can do lots more harm than to your clothes or skin: an elbow can readily catch the spur and cock the revolver in the holster. Then, unbeknownst to the wearer, the pistol draws with, instead of a long DA pull, the 'hair trigger' pull of SA. Know of a guy who drilled his mate while showing off his Python, that way.

Red: You described the holster much better than I could....the workmanship is excellent and it "sits just right" on the strong side torso, a testament to it's design. And you are so right about revolver hammers potentially doing a number on suit coat linings......just ask my wife. I wore holes in a bunch in 35+ years of plain clothes LEO experience. Always enjoy your observations. Tom

Nice rig, ready for "good service"! Own many Lobo Leather rigs for wheelguns and autos, they all work.

What Red was mentioning with inadverdently cocked hammers is true. After carrying spurred hammers in plain clothes for several years I started bobbing hammers and shooting DA only. My scores went up, on an average of 10-12 points on a 50 round qual course 25 yds and in.

I found I concentrate more on the front sight when squeezing through a round on a revolver in DA, over the lighter release of a SA shot.

I recently received a Lobo IWB holster in horsehide. If anything, the workmanship and execution was better than the excellent Lobo holsters I had purchased in the past.

I took delivery of a Lobo Enhanced Avenger last month for my 65-3, got it in time to qualify with the 65-3. It is an excellent holster. I highly recommend Lobo.

Even though I have been retired for nearly 3 years now, and Lobo Gun Leather is now in the able hands of the Fedders family in Ely, Minnesota, it does my heart good to see that people are still pleased with my designs and the company that I created. The "Enhanced Pancake" and earlier "Enhanced Avenger" designs were the results of a number of ideas that had been bouncing around inside my head for years, and the development of those ideas into a final product consumed much of my time for 2 to 3 years of trial and error, review, prototype after prototype, testing and more revisions. I truly believe that the Enhanced Pancake is the single best innovation on the original "pancake" holster concept by Roy Baker, going back about 50 years ago.

Building a business, creating something that never existed before and working to develop it into a viable enterprise is a bit like raising a child. You want to see it grow and thrive. You never want to see it sick, or hurt, or (heaven forbid) dead.

Three years ago I was ready to retire. I had worked for 53 years, retired from law enforcement and gone into business full-time, and spent nearly 9 years working 7 days per week. I was tired. Arthritis, neuropathy, and cancer issues were daily challenges. In August 2015 I announced that I was no longer taking new orders. I completed and delivered my final order on November 2, 2015. It was a sad time in some ways, thinking about just shutting down the company and walking away.

I was contacted by Mark Fedders in early September, inquiring about taking over the business, and Mark and family arrived shortly thereafter to spend a week with me in the shop as I worked down the order list. I was impressed with Mark and the whole family, and we struck a deal. In early November everything was loaded in a trailer and taken to the Fedders' home in Iowa, then I went there and spent 8 days with the family as the first production runs were completed. Since then I have remained on call as a consultant with frequent telephone and e-mail communications as needed to deal with questions, concerns, and product ideas. Early this year the Fedders relocated to Ely, Minnesota (beautiful community near the Boundary Waters area on the Canadian border), and I went out to see the new Lobo facility. While this has always been a business deal, I can happily say that we have become very good friends and I would be happy to count the Fedders as members of my own family.

Mark and Alethea are wonderful people. Son Matthew is a very talented leather worker in his own right (numerous awards and honors, especially in the field of leather carving in the Sheridan floral style, truly an artist working in leather). Another son, Luke, is a pleasure to be around. Then there are the rest of the family (all 8 children!!!), just a joy and pleasure to spend time with!

I am confident that those who choose Lobo Gun Leather now and in the future will receive a superior product delivered with only the best in customer service from a fine family committed to excellence.

Special thanks to all who entrusted me with their needs over the years, allowing me to retire very comfortably.

Best regards.

Another personal note:

The very first order completed by the new Lobo Gun Leather was done for my long time friend, and forum member, "Old Bear". Fred and I were puppy policemen together on the same department way back in the mid-1970's, before he took off for California, then on to retirement in North Carolina. I remember receiving a holster order with a familiar name, but was so busy that I didn't follow up. Then Fred e-mailed and said he recognized my name from "back in the day", and we were able to renew a good friendship. We share occasional phone calls, and he was very helpful to me while I was dealing with some family health issues.

More than a few Lobo customers have become good friends. Most recently I needed some help while getting medical treatment in Denver, and Maj45K stepped up to assist, and SigP220.45 provided a good back-up plan.

So, in addition to being successful financially Lobo Gun Leather has added much more to my life!

I hope that your health is improving.

I think that your offset belt clip IWB holster is an excellent and elegant design.
