A generalised comment that applies to all revolver holsters -- holsters accept various revolvers in this manner:
smallest is the J frame Smith; the Charter Arms 38 suits it;
next is the D frame Colt that includes the Police Positive and the Charter 44;
then the K frame;
the Python frame which includes Trooper, this is the Smith L frame and the Ruger GP100;
the N frames which can be affected by having fixed or adjustable sight, and especially by the target hammers if a strap is involved, the Redhawk goes here;
Outside of these groupings they do not interchange well. For example, the J frame is loose in the Detective Special, the L frame rattles around in an N frame, the Trooper is too big for a K frame.
Any other sizes are either way before my time -- the predecessor to the J frame for example -- or after such as the X frame. So no experience here.
