Default SW holster B 17 26 W

it's a SW B 17 26 W. A potential buyer asked me if it would fit a Colt Python 6" and I'm sad to say I didn't know the answer. But I bet somebody here does....please help if you can.
Thanks much!

There are different size codes for the N frame S&W and the Colt Python so I would say your holster would not fit a Python.

I think the 17 is the holster model. A size 26 fits a 5-6" N frame.

A generalised comment that applies to all revolver holsters -- holsters accept various revolvers in this manner:

smallest is the J frame Smith; the Charter Arms 38 suits it;
next is the D frame Colt that includes the Police Positive and the Charter 44;
then the K frame;
the Python frame which includes Trooper, this is the Smith L frame and the Ruger GP100;
the N frames which can be affected by having fixed or adjustable sight, and especially by the target hammers if a strap is involved, the Redhawk goes here;

Outside of these groupings they do not interchange well. For example, the J frame is loose in the Detective Special, the L frame rattles around in an N frame, the Trooper is too big for a K frame.

Any other sizes are either way before my time -- the predecessor to the J frame for example -- or after such as the X frame. So no experience here.
