Default Franz-Loc Clip-on holster

I have several holsters with Franz-Loc clip-on mounts, Heiser offered them in their catalog or you could order the clip itself. This is the first holster I’ve seen branded Franz Clip-on.
Regards,
turnerriver

These are very high quality, almost over engineered. Here's the one you gave me that I put on this holster for my 3 1/2" 27-2. I bought another Franz-Loc clip on Ebay and it's around here somewhere. BTW, check out how symmetrical those sambar stags are.

I never had a Franz Loc on a holster, but always kinda wanted one.
By coincidence I just bought a floral carved S. D. Myres with the Franz
Loc attached. It appears to be for a K Frame with 2" barrel (I hope).
I'll clean it up and post a photo here when I get it.
John, this one simply says S. D. Myres El Paso (No Tex). I don't
remember what the significance is with respect to dating? Can you
refresh my memory? Thank you.

In general the Myres stamp with Tex. is seen on earlier holsters. I’ll look forward to the photos.

I mentioned in #4 above that, by coincidence, I had just bought an
S. D. Myres holster with a Franz-Loc on it. I thought it was for a 2"
K Frame, but when it came today I found out it fits a 2" J Frame.

I took a couple of BEFORE photos. Then I cleaned it up a bit and took
some AFTER PHOTOS. I think (I hope) you can tell which is which.
The maker mark simply says S. D. MYRES EL PASO (No Tex.)

The Franz-Loc appears to me to have been added after it had
left the Myres shop, but just my guess. The 5th photo shows
the holster clipped to my Sparks gunbelt, and holding my
Charter Undercover.

Default Meine US Patent for Franz-loc

This is the patent for the clip-on that was submitted in 1936 and granted in 1938.
These work very well. They are made of a full 1/16" thickness nickel material and so they add about 3oz. to the weight of the holster.
I have a few on holsters and John (Turnerriver) told me where to find these some years ago (I bought several).

As fate would have it, I was just having a conversation with Doc about incorporating one into a new holster for me.

Wouldn't pass up another if it came my way.

Let's remove all doubt for you Phil :-). That clip has been added to a standard Myres with an existing belt loop; not at the factory. I'm unaware of any Myres literature that promoted the clip or its holsters with the clip, in any era.

The Heiser catalog page that turnerriver showed is from No. 40 that is 1948. I do believe it is the only year that Heiser offered it on their goods. During 1945 to 1950 Heiser was owned by The Denver Dry Goods, and at Ewald Heiser's death in 1949 it came under the control of Keyston Bros (no evidence that money changed hands) in support of their booming 'junior cowboy and cowgirl' TV show holster sets that lasted until James Bond arrived 1962.

I'm sure I have a pic of Fred Keyston with his sets around here somewhere!

I actually removed the Franz-Loc from the holster I made posted above then sold it with a new belt loop stitched on. I haven't yet decided what to make a holster for myself using that belt clip that John Witty gave me. I bought another to put on a tooled holster, but in the end it might be hard to sell. A fancy carved holster with the FL clip would have to be priced higher than I think people would go for.

Numrich still has some Franz-Loc clips. $3 for 2 1/2", $7 for 1".
I just got back from buying a couple.

Don't know why, except I think they are cool, but I ordered a couple to put in the odds and ends drawer for future projects.

My reason also. I like to have a few parts around for repairs, etc., and something like this seems like it might make one of those crazy ideas for a "better" way to make a holster a little easier to do.

Cleaning up my computer directories I'm reminded there was a Meine-marked version, too:

Did I mention that Franz was H&D Folsom Arms' own inventor? He created several pat ents for them just as Audley's early patents began to expire.
