Default Effax Leather Balm (Effax Leder-Balsam)

Has anybody had any experience with this stuff? Ran across it on Amazon while looking for something else. Made in some German-speaking country, and advertising lanolin, bees' wax, and avocado oil as active ingredients. I may try some on a few of my less-desireable holsters, just to see how it compares with Black Rock. It seems to be about half the price.

Got a jar of it. Pleasant-smelling; at room temp is about the consistency of Johnson's paste wax.

Took an old, battered pair of moccasins and treated one with Effax and the other with BlackRock, then buffed both when dry. No sheen produced on the Effax-treated one.

Hunted up my old logging boots sitting untreated in the back of the closet for about 20 years. Dry as an October oak leaf . Rubbed in the Effax, and leather is now quite supple.

Long and short of it--I'll use the Effax for work boots and other things wanting nourishment of the leather, but no sheen. For fancy stuff, I'll stick with BlackRock.

Obenauf’s Leather Oil is what I use on work boots and saddlebags. I use their LP paste on some holsters and on my leather riding jackets. Apply the LP paste by hand and it is also good for your hands.
