Default Sixgun Leather?

Needing a new holster, and cartridge slide, for my Ruger Blackhawk. Wanting a traditional outside the waistband style.

Any suggestions?

I’m shocked I’ve yet to receive a recommendation.

Hit up El Paso Saddlery. They have high quality stuff and you can customize it a bit, to your tastes.

Lobo Gun Leather has yet to disappoint me as far as a good shuck goes. As per your belt, I would second the Simply Rugged recommendation.

El Paso Saddlery. Simply outstanding quality and excellent variety of styles, etc. Have been very satisfied with what I have bought from them.

Bianchi. What was written for EPS goes for Bianchi. Lots of very nice well made holsters that would provide excellent carry for your RBH. Sincerely. bruce.

When I did Cowboy Action Shooting in SASS Matches (for 20 years) I always used Old West Reproductions. Rick's holsters and belts have faired well over that period of use for me.

Old West Reproductions(R), Inc. - 406.273.2615

You cold also contact Snubbyfan (here on the forum) as I think his workmanship is very good.

If money is an object the Bianchi 1L Lawman , I bought one 2018 for my Blackhawk . Price was $60.00 and well pleased with it . I just wanted a decent holster and it is...Happy Camper.
If price was not an object...something from El Paso Saddlery's "Classic Carry" line would be my choice...there are 4-5 different models in the line and making a choice would be ...difficult ... I like ALL of them .
All are over $100.00 but I'm sure worth it.

I started Lobo Gun Leather in 1972 and was still producing until 2015 when I retired. The company continues under ownership of the Fedders family and I am very pleased with their quality and customer service.

Beginning about the late 1980's most US law enforcement agencies started transitioning from revolvers to semi-auto pistols, and that trend was pretty well completed by the late 1990's. As that occurred many of the leading holster-making companies dropped all or most of their offerings for revolvers, concentrating their production capacity on holsters for the most popular handguns on the market. I noticed a trend of demand from the owners of millions of revolvers who wanted to keep using them. This resulted in a very good market niche for small to mid-sized companies (like Lobo Gun Leather).

By the early 21st Century years I found that my orders consistently ran about 60% for revolvers (as well as significant continued demand for older semi-autos), while relatively few big-name companies were offering little or nothing for revolvers (and older semi-autos were dropped in favor of the newer offerings).

During the same time period civilian handgun carrying grew dramatically. While concealed carry permits were pretty rare in most states in the 1980's, there are now many millions of private citizens regularly carrying handguns, and a lot of those are revolvers.

Suggestion: Have a look at the website and get in touch with Mark at Lobo Gun Leather. Most of my designs remain in production and the Fedders have added some innovations of their own. I'm sure you will be pleased with the results.

There are way too many Ojala options to take a guess, why donít you start a new thread asking about Ojalaís work or search existing threads ? There is a lot of information here about him and that way this thread seeking info on a holster for a Ruger Blackhawk wonít be derailed.
Thanks and regards,

I really like my vintage Bianchi Lawman. Avoid the newer production Bianchi that are Made in Mexico. They are not up to the same material or production quality as the older models.

I have several fine holsters from El Paso Sadlery. The latest is a Tortilla for my 4" bbl 629. Good stuff.

This is Red's #1 prototype of Tom Threeperson's personal holster.
It is made for a 5.5" Colt's SAA, but Tom carried his 4.75" Colt's in it.
Red gave the prototype to Luckyphil, so I put my 4.75" replica in it,
and it hangs in a place of honor on my office wall. Red only made a
hundred of them, and they are all sold.
BTW Red also made the gorgeous ranger style belt and gave it to me.
I think it is called a Sidewinder.

Right over in Boulder City is J. Costanza, custom leather maker. He sells thru "Western Star Leather and Tack Shop" at 702-907-6950. They have in stock custom made cartridge slides and western style holsters. It is top quality western leather gear. I have one of his holsters for my Ruger Blackhawk of which I am very proud.

Here, on the left, is a Bucheimer-Clark Rebel. Red Nichol's says it is a very
close replication of Tom Threeperson's personal holster. Mine is model 98.
If your Ruger BH is a 357 with 4.75" barrel you would want model 95.
If a .44 magnum with 6.5" barrel you would want model 96.

On the right is a Bucheimer Federal Man. Mine is model 570.
It is about the same as the Rebel except it has the safety strap and
a higher ride.
