Help?! What gun fits this holster?
Well not identifying the holster more identifying what gun this holster is for.
This is a Lawrence 27L L6 holster. The L is for laced. It is too large for a K frame. The barrel of neither a K ot N frame will fit into the part of the holster intended for the barrel. It looks to be more for a semi. Woodsman, perhaps but I don't have one to try.
So does anyone have an idea?

Others here know exactly, but my guess would also be a 6" Woodsman (with the standard barrel, not a Match Target).

Most likely answer is a long-barreled .22 semi-auto pistol. Generally a blocked fitting job with no fitting to specific details, so I suspect that it was a "one size fits several" fit. Production period probably about 1960's. Several popular .22 pistols at that time including the Woodsman, several offerings from High Standard, Ruger Mk I and others.

It's set for adjustable sights in the rear. Round barrel. As said not target sights in the front, unless low ones.

Skeeter pictured a similar profile flap holster in his 1972 holster article -- for a Luger. Skeeter described it as a custom item.
L 6 = Luger with 6 inch barrel.

Luger with 6" barrel. That fits the impressions on the inside of the holster perfectly!

Now you only need to get an Imperial Navy Luger for that holster.

Good catch on the ID. Bet Lawrence didn’t sell thousands of this model!

For a Navy Luger I'd need a floral carved Lawrence with a ship on it. Whale bone scrimshaw ship would be best. Tiny brass cannon optional.

But it's the Luger that fits the holster you already have.

More than likely it is for the 6" 70's era "Swiss Pattern" Mauser Parabellum and then for the later 6" P08 model.

My friend and editor SG-688 knows his stuff :-). He mentioned to me that he'd worked it out from the Skeeter article and I was quietly impressed.
